Having owned Ruby for a full 3 years is record-setting for me, personally... :urban:
Cars I've had longer, yes, but never a moto.
This thread has been fun to update and I hope it has helped some of you Aero 125ers... :thumbwink:
I feel some pride in seeing that the view count has topped 7,500, and issue challenge to all to duplicate or defeat that number.
I am just an old dude, who happens to like to ride, and always have.
I credit this forum with providing the info and community that has helped me along this path.
The NEW ride is yet nameless, but it was exactly the bike that needed to come along in order for me to cut Ruby loose.
Kinda sad that this thread is destined to fade.
Cheers to all who have enjoyed the journey along with me... :hi: ...bye

Ruby has returned... :surprise:
That's right, she was not happy with the lady who bought her.
The good news is that Ruby has new direction and purpose.
She will be competing on May 2, 2015 in a challenge.
The event is organized by local club, Pseudomoto.
The object of the challenge is to ride a moto for 24 hours, and go farther than the other competitors.
The moto MUST be 150cc's or less...must cost $500 or less...and be registered and street legal.
This is a TEAM event of 6 riders or less.
I am captain of a team called, "The Meaty Ogres"
I will be posting updates in this thread... :urban:

Today, Ruby has embarked on a new voyage.
The Scrapper Challenge that she competed in during May 2-3, 2015, took every ounce of her strength.
Actually, she SEIZED during the 22nd hour after running for 973 miles.
We finished 3rd overall, but with another 2 and 1/2 hours remaining, we had the lead and got beaten by only 24 miles.
Truth is, Ruby should have won the 24 hour race, and was clearly the bike to beat.
No explanation of why it seized yet.
However, the engine is toast, and a NEW engine has been transplanted.
I was lucky enough to find an Aero 125 that had taken a header into the barn and severely bent the fork.
The work of swapping engines was completed today, and Ruby is now with a new family.
Good friend Drew was without any two-wheel transport, so I made him a deal.
He helped with the swap, and I sold him Ruby.
Since Drew and I ride together some, Ruby and I are still going to have some fun.
She was a very good (bad - :geekdance: ) girl... :urban:

She is keeping company with a '92 Elite SR these days, and
still having fun. This thread has been fun too.
Ruby has a personality that is spunky, dependable, and she is
missed. I am glad that a close friend has given her a home where she will
continue to be ridden often and enjoyed... :urban:
No regrets... :naughty:

I might add, the reason Ruby failed in the 24-hour challenge was a burnt piston.

That is one slick bike, great work on keeping her alive. Would love to find one of my own some day. Dig that Helix too!

Hello,
I have read carefully the forum.
I live in France and have a Peugeot SV 125 which has the same Honda aero's 125 engine. I have read in another forum one guy who put a "Mikuni VM22 133" without the Bear adaptator and DIO manifold, but that seemed too tricky to adjust the Jet (starving in acceleration). Can I put that carburetor in the hope I will find a good Mikuni VM22 set up? Or is it compulsory to have the Bear adaptator and DIO manifold?
Thank you

The DIO intake manifold does not mate directly to the engine case, so it is mandatory to have something to accommodate the attachment. Obviously, the OEM intake manifold is too small to allow much improvement when installing a larger carburetor. I can see why that would be a difficult tune issue. I wish I could be more help. ... :urban: ....motor
