1984 Honda Spree Build

Post by Saxonthebeach »

I was given a Honda Spree from a friend, literally in pieces in a box. I rebuild the engine and carb, replaced the battery and spark plug, then drained all the old gas an oil, totally flushed out all the fluids, cleaned all the hoses, lines, and petcock. Then I went through the wiring, getting all the gremlins out of the system and reconnecting all the wires, as the previous owner cut all of the wires to the headlight, blinkers, and tail lights. To save some money, I put on some lights I had for the front turn signals. Then painted all the plastics, cause the original red was super faded. I know it's not perfect and up to some of y'all's standards, but I'm d*** proud of rebuilding this thing from the ground up, and having a fully functional and ride-able scooter.

It is missing the plastic piece that goes under the headlight as well as the 2 side panels and petcock cover. But unless, I can get those pieces SUPER cheap, I'm not going to worry about them. I have mirrors on the way.

Suprsingly so, the seat is in perfect condition. It had to have been replaces at some point in time, seeing the 7700+ miles on the thing.

Thanks. It's not perfect, and I do wish I had the extra plastic pieces that I'm missing, but it'll do. It starts right up and drives great. *, even the tires have tread left on them.

I think you did a really good job too :D you might try some salvage yards or something for the plastics, I know my salvage yard has several panels laying around but they dont even have the actually scooters anymore probably scraped them out. If i go down there anytime soon i will see how much he will sell them to me for if you are interested, if the price is cheap I will get them for you

no problem I gotta go down there pretty soon, gotta get a cylinder for my xr100 build and a 50cc cylinder and head for my c70, i want to downgrade it so i dont have to get tags and insurance :D crazy I know. Maybe I can talk him into giving them to me and you just pay shipping. surely someone on here has a bottom headset piece they would part with for a reasonable price. If you are like me I want my stuff to be complete :D If I have to pay more than 10 dollars for them you will have to reimburse me :P

hahhah if they cost more than I think they are worth I wont even get them cause the shipping will be around 11 to 15 bucks. not trying to make any cash off ya man, I know you want them and I hate to see them lay on the ground at the salvage. if i could afford it I would buy all the discarded honda scooters and parts from the salvage hahha

I was taking a closer look at my Scooter, and the large year says 1894, but the actual date is 12/83... Weird.

its only wierd if you havent look at the mfg date of any other cycles from Japan. On almost everyone I have looked at they are always manufactured the year before they were released :D All the ones I have anyway

Same with a lot of vehicles, a Pontiac manufactured 12/98 will usually be a 1999 model.
