Re: AF16 block build
Since I have my Spree sitting in my room staring at me I couldnt take the sharp angle from the longer shock and the offset in the rear so I took the motor off and spilled almost a whole tank of oil on my harley rug in the process hahahha I grinded some off the motor mount on the exhaust side and put a large washer on the other side now its almost perfect. Also swapped to a spree shock for now, with an elite shock the rear will line up perfect I think because of the oddset built into the mount. Had to cut the rear fender and some off the bottom of hte panels but all in all I dont have that sharp slant anymore that was gnawing at my sensibilities When I took the muffler off I noticed I had a drip at some point so I took the guard off the header and apparently I have a leak around the first screw mount since there was lots of oil under there willl know exactly when I crank her up again in a few days when its warm, luckily I have plenty of welding rods If anyone has an elite shock they wanna part with hook a brotha up

Re: AF16 block build
Got the stock manifold etc etc put back on from where i tested the parts on the Eve a few days ago and decided to take her out this morning to fire her up. Kick Kick Kick no go so I had to squirt a little premix in the plug hole...smoke smoke smoke Had to let her warm up and rev it a couple times to get all the oil outta the crankcase and carb from sitting up but she runs like a top. Now I just gotta find a slightly larger main maybe an 82 since I have the pod filter on there and wait for richD to finish the shock mount cause I dont quite trust the one I made Thinking about putting a ruckus vari on this one to see how it performs but not really looking to do any major mods. I did notice i gotta take the front end apart and grease the steering bearings and tighten it down and rethread the rear brake cable bolt. I am using the front brake to stop and i can feel the front move It took me FOREVER to work the rear brake cable free inside its housing from it all rusted up in there and at some point i messed a few threads up no big deal. Just glad both my scoots are ready for the riding season

Re: AF16 block build
dont ride it with a 82 main if your using a pod filter. its going to be very lean and you will risk seizing it. either put the airbox on or run a aftermarket carb so you can upjet the pilot and main .

Re: AF16 block build
What do you mean baka? its a stock engine no sense in an aftermarket carb I put the clip all the way down to richen the mixture and it is definately rich. also I have the pod filter attached to the intake tube from the spree airbox so i dont think it can flow quite as much air as if the filter was directly attached to the carb. I admit 78 is probably a little lean on the top but definately not on the bottom

Re: AF16 block build
you been on here for how long? and you still going to run it with a pod even after many times of it being talked about that running it like that you risk it seizing. if you dont care, go ahead and run it like.

Re: AF16 block build
bakaracer's just trynah look out for ya mystic, for there is always a greater possibility of seizing when running lean.

Re: AF16 block build
Yea I know i just wasnt sure if he was aware that it was a stock bore. I also know the pod filter makes it slightly lean but I dont have a stock airbox either. I always take your opinion and expertise into consideration baka I think with a slightly larger main, the main needle clip all the way down, idled turned up more and the air mixture screw turned in more than 1 out should be enough to keep it from overheating. It may get hot at idle but as soon as the throttle is applied the extra fuel would cool it back down. If i find a stock airbox at a reasonable price I may invest but right now I dont plan on riding this Spree much if any. Thanks Dio89Elite. This build looks rough compared to my Eve

Re: AF16 block build
Finally gotten around to some more work on my spare scoot Put the arreche 17.5 on there with stock airbox a week or 2 ago after i got some jets from racingplanetusa.com. ordered 15 and 20 pilot and 60 70 and 80 mains right now running 15 and 70 seems to do an easy 35 without going WOT but wont know for sure on the jetting till I get a CHT and do some plug chops. Ordered a pump plug and a SEF ramp from VTcycles since I hate guessing how much oil there is plus I prefer premixing will most liely run 50 or 40:1 not sure yet. Also traded my red glovebox to bosshelby for a black one Slowly but surely this build is coming together. I will eventually do a 43mm or 45mm kit on this just taking my time and using my left over stock parts for now.

Re: AF16 block build
I am pretty sure I will be able to hit 40 or darn near it with the SEF ramp I can definately tell a difference still not sure if I wanna try a WOT run yet till I get another CHT, not too keen on taking any more chances. Decided to run 50:1 for now
--put the CHT from my EVE on there with a bp8ha plug after a long run with hills etc my temps got up to 370 without going full throttle so i slowed down and the temps dropped so I may need to go larger on the main just to be safe and lower the clip so i dont run lean in the midrange. my goal is around 350 WOT. Also gotta fix my throttle cable since it is stock and I had to cut the carb cap off with a dremel with it wide open the slide doesnt open all the way I am sure. Need to make some kind of clip to hold the cable to the arrache cap so it doest move as i apply throttle

Re: AF16 block build
The arreche S1 needle has 3 notches so i put the clip on the bottom and put in an 80 main temps didnt exceed 340 but it sorta loses power from 3/4ths to full throttle so I think I need to punch out the second tab in the stock airbox to get that extra bit of throttle working right

Re: AF16 block build
Punched out the second tab, idles great but 1/2 to full it falls on its face after 35mph. Jetted down to 60 since 70 did almost the same thing and it seems to respond better but still loses power after 35. Could a worn center spring cause this at higher RPM? I know the center spring is pretty worn. The spring on my Eve is almost too strong for me to spread by hand but this one is really easy. About to go for a few mile run to the store to see how the temps are. I would think with a worn center spring that the trans would shift sooner and begin to slip once the belt travled as far as it could in the rear pully before the engine had reached max rpm. Any suggestions?

Re: AF16 block build
you just leaned out the carb by punching out the 2nd tab. by you dropping the jet size you made it worst. you need to go up on the main jet.Mystic wrote:Punched out the second tab, idles great but 1/2 to full it falls on its face after 35mph.
