Hey nice bike.. I jus got a red one im planning on hookin up.. What speeds you getting with the stock gears? Did you splice the cdi?

I lightened up my weights, did the variator drive boss mod, and added a tecnigas pipe.. Went from 33-34 when i bought her.. To 42 with seems like a couple mph for sure left..12" wheels ride so nice.. And disk brakes are awesome..i think im just going to do the nikasil ,19arreche,tenigas,variator,fresh belt and a sultai cdi.. I should be over 50 easily if the gears allow it.. The kymco forum guys claim 55 stock gears so lets see

If you did 45 before mods, whats speeds are you seeing now

The cdi is a simple fix, cut and splice the light green with the dark green. The drive boss is easier to get another one or add washers to a dio one than modify it correctly unless you have access to a lathe. I have an extra stock unrestricted boss if you need it DS.
Stock unrestricted down hill you should see the 50 mph mark on the speedo, depended on how off it is youre actually going over 50. Mine is 53 at 50 mph mark and 64-5 at the 60. I dont like the technigas pipe with, or with out, stock form and it may be part of the problem with the low top speed. The power band just seemed weak to me, the leo vince zx pipe and the technigas are about on par with each other. The ZX has a little better top. A V8 pipe with the stock cylinder is a better performer all around until you go big bore and big carb on these engine/12 inch wheel combo.

Stock gears max out at 65 at 11k with a polini variator so pretty much when you see the 60 youll know youre near at its end unless you have more rpms to spare. Ill sell you one for 5$ + 6 for shipping I think it would be or maybe not. But you can get one for 14 new shipped.

I picked up an 05 Kymco ZX50 for 400 bucks. I tried ordering a jasil performance variator from colorado powersports, only to find that it didn't fit. Not finding the kymcoforum to be very active, so I figured Id give some other forums a shot. How do I know if I have a restricted drive boss? Is it subtle when looking at it? Im clearly restricted, when I picked the scoot up the speedometer was working and only hit the arrow where it was restricted to 30 or 35 mph. Speedo stopped working so I need to figure that out as well.
