Installing the engine went smooth, it fired right up. Sounds real healthy, did a few heat cycles. I've taken a short ride around the block and everything seems good. I didn't hold WOT too long but I'm feeling a nice power band.

I'm considering this engine build a success. When the weather gets better I'm sure I'll get a chance to ride more. I plan on doing the drive pulley mod and maybe upgrade the clutch. Might mess around with some other mods too.

Other projects are going to take my attention away from this for awhile. I recently purchased a 1985 Honda elite 80 for cheap, the plan is to swap the 80cc 4 stroke onto a Spree! The swap has been done before but I'm going to take a stab at it, so watch out for my next build thread.

I'd call the porting a success, for sure. If it fired right up and drove fine you have done it right :-D after you get it good and broke in, do a plug chop and make sure everything is fine intake wise. Way to go, and thanks for posting your journey of the rebuild.

Thanks, I just road it around the neighborhood last week. The gearing and belt drive still limit the top speed(30-35mph) But it accelerates better than a stock engine. I'm still planning on modding a spare drive pulley by shaving the lip off and maybe doing the clutch upgrade. I'd also like to try a bigger jet or maybe a larger carb.

For the most part I was just testing myself in hopes of doing the same thing on larger engines. When you own 2 other sprees with motor swaps this project always get put on the back burner. I'm about to start another porting project on my spare ch80 four stroke engine, should just be mostly head work.

A stock spree motor won't really benefit from an upjet unless you change the intake tract. And even then its no benefit to pull the airbox and go free flow uni on a stock setup, ive tried it. Ive also tried a 21mm carb on the stock spree with the MLM pipe Its too big even with the pipe.. A 17mm or 18mm carb may work out and give some benefit but I think you are best off with the stock carb and stock airbox for sure, especially if you have a stock exhaust.
