Pineapplegti wrote:^^^ well said bud .. Btw our hawiian friend has a modded b series in his 4 door integra ( profile avatar)(which is a totally junk and obsolete motor compared to the mighty k series) I think he is taking his k series blues out on lowly afo5 owners.
Excuse me? The b series is not a junk obsolete motor im not going to get in a debate over that. The sohc honda motor is a better comparison to the spree engine NOT the b series. It thier most popular engine and most swapped engine out of any other honda engine. A k series is actually NOT worth te money. A H22 mated to the itr transmission is the best bang for your buck and will smoke most k series swaps. You wanna get into a debate over this then come on to jdmuniverse.com same screen name. Theres tons of builders ready to back everything i just said

I did a couple rounds of degreasing, started taking it apart.

When taking off the flywheel I noticed it came off pretty easy and I didn't even have to use a puller. Then the stator wasn't that tight either, it's starting to make sense why the plastic fan looks like it was rubbing.

Thanks, After I tear it down I'm going to sandblast.

My plan is to do some porting but nothing extreme. I'll open the intake window in the case a bit, port the intake manifold too. Smooth out the casting flaws and polish the inside of the case. Open up the intake/exhaust ports on the cylinder. Then hopefully I'll have a good running spree that breathes better and has better acceleration. I'll eventually try the pulley mod since I have a spare one.

If I'm successful then I move onto my larger engine and do the same. So this will be a good engine to practice on.

Porting can be very relaxing, I love doing it. Take your time and try not to do all at once. Any porting on a spree helps. I did some to my spree, diddnt raise the exhaust port yet, it was a very noticable differance despite that.

Thanks, I'm no photographer. I have a simple point'click sony camera I use to take a bunch of pictures, then choose the best quality ones. I'm uploading more tear down pics right now...

Yeah, I know what you mean. I've done a lot of car related polishing projects, using power tools for long periods of time. I usually wear headphones and listen to my favorite music or talk show on my mp3 player. But I don't want to get too relaxed and grind through the case.:nervous:

Yeah I do the same thing, I have ear protectors that have an FM radio built in. I put on the classic rock and get to it. My new fav tools for porting are the diamond bits that fit a dremel. I paid about 10 or 12$ for a large selection. Image
Those are the small set I just got a bigger set with way more bits. I start out with carbide burr cutters of varying shapes and then really get stuff dialed in with the diamond bits.
