Stuggling with the black gloss... on the plastics.

1. Finished derusting the gas tank
2. Hit it with low gloss.
3. Hooked gas lines
4. Pet * flows in off position.
5. My scoot fixes both have had petcock failures.
6. Plumb a new gas fliter and cheap ball valve in line.
7. Hooked up the oil tank...pull the oil pump and ran it on my drill and purged the system.
8. Stuck in new plug.
9. Finished wiring up the essentials.
10. Turned ignition to on.
11. Popped fuse...
12. Rechecked my wiring... found my error.
13. Tap the starter.... you know what happened next.
14. Its a Honda... fired up on first tap.
15. Changed the trans fluid and tooked it for a spin.
16. Neat experience.
17. The tran side seems not to roll smooth... some restriction. I shorten the trans brake cable to the max.
18. She rolls okay but I think she should be more free.
19. Maybe sitting for the last 15 years will require working out some cobwebs.

Plastic paint gurus give me some hints. Have many parts primed and wet sanded.

We get some pictures up soon.
I'm more than happy to explain it to you. I'll even draw you a picture! But I can't understand it for you.

Turns out the drive train side drum spreader rod / pin for the drums was not moving freely. Broke it down tonight and cleaned then greased. Works great now... need to do the free wheel side too.

Anyway progress...

Its running...but the exhaust is not as free as it should be. I need a camp fire... but in a subdivision.

The plastic painting is not working out like I wished.

Been working on a second spree I recently picked up... its going now - so gyro may be back in focus.

I desperately need to find a round headlight that will work.

Have 5 honda 50s now....spree, aero, elite - the 80% gyro is everyone's favorite and pick for a spin.

Trust me everyone needs a gyro ... they are kicka$$.

Both of these pipes burned for quite awhile... probably not as good as camp fire - but hopeful.

Hey Carl No Bull .Sitting the yellow looks like the color on kids plastic bicycle rims which is cool .
I have 2 Gyros that I will probably start working on in the next month or so
I might paint one them yellow but I hate to be a copy cat but I have to admit it does look good .
As for the floor plate I made one out of perferated metal I just used an old one for a template
and it came out quite good I also used some aluminum on the bottom of the frame as a skid plate
which also looks kinda good I think ? I just used rivets to attach it .
It was pretty easy .
As for the headlight housing thats a real pain I had some like yours and I used some metal tape
on the inside and just used JB weld and would build it up slowly like keep adding a bit at a time
then after it looked OK sand it down to fit . I have tried to use other headlights like chrome bullet ones but the problem is the wireing
harness has to fit inside and it gets kinda tight .
Carl really you should think about just making your own floor panel .
Your Gyro is coming along very well and looking forward to seeing it when your finished .

I also made the engine cover out of the same stuff . You can laugh at my foot rests but with the stock ones they vibrate
a lot when rideing with mine they feel good and no more vibration .

Hey six.... the gyro is 80% complete and been ridden so much by the kids over the last 8 months that the right side tire is bald. Thinking about buying some quad wheels per a poster on here (fleabay) in the future. I will some day do the floor panels in perforated metal like yours - turned out nice.

As far as yellow wheels that is your call - the silver, black, and daytona yellow just seem to have been made together. You do it and I will say I copied it from you - screw who's idea it is.

I have a stable of air cooled burners... but my son KX-65 will require me to pair down a few more from the stable - 2 cherry DIOs. At the end of the day, gyro is EVERYONE'S favorite. People just will never understand how cool these things really are. Guess that is because they are so rare - well for everyone but you. Its the keeper for sure.

I will put a round headlight on this eventually... just like the looks of it so much. Like my wife says - if the it don't fit just force it. So I will work out something with those wires.

Lastly... painting the ABS is beyond my skills I guess. I hate ABS and just to much fun to ride. Can you say sliver primer on the panels you see above installed. As far as the back cover - guess I am not a puriest as it been hanging on the wall since my first swing at painting it black.

Thanks reviving this post.

You might want to check out Wall-mart yes Wall Mart has some cool looking tires that will fit your Gyro and they are very inexpensive
I think under $20.00 per tire . They are for small carts or tractors but they do fit a little tight but the tread looks cool .
If you decide to go with them a small spacer between the frame and fenders will help and the tires won't rub .
They sell a headlight at Harbor Freight that is chrome but the lamp is only single beam (look in the trailer section ) also not too expensive
the problem is there are a lot of wires you have to stuff in there ,I am always on the look out for a cool looking headlight or what would be really hip is too find one that the speedo and indicator lights would fit into . Oh well thats just me . And I will probably paint a set of Gyro wheels yellow like yours and if anyone asks I will say I saw a guy swflcarl do it on this site.

Six.... thanks for the reply. Give me the wally world spec on the tires you are running, and I will go that way. They look cool.

I don't have the rear finder on... its on the wall - so I should be good.

Thanks again.

Hiya Carl... :hi:
66SIX can reply as to the spec he is using...
His choice is a "turf" tread design. (13 X 500 X 6) is a tidy fit under the fenders
My choice for the rear of TG50M Gyro is (15 X 600 X 6) Running fender-less
...and because I race mine on pavement, I have chosen to use a "rib" tread design.
Both tire designs are meant for the front of lawn tractors, primarily... :thumbwink:
I buy mine at Northern Tools or Tractor Supply or Lawn-mower stores.
WalMart probably hard to beat for $$....I just stay as far away from that store as possible.
You should test-ride your own set-up to find optimum pressures.
I suggest the pressure on the tire sidewall be ignored.
I run only 11-13 psi for race purposes.
Something like 20-25 psi might be good for street/yard use.
The cornering will be greatly improved over those narrow tires you are running now.

Mike my mentor.... thanks for the advice. $32 for a pair - can you say cheap.

Went for the 15 x 600 x 6

Excited about my race slicks.... okay lawn mower front yard rubber.

They are in the back of my sled... will attempt to mount this weekend when I am home. Let me know any tricks if there are any.

Thanks again my friend.
