Greetings:

Minor Update with the Honda/Bando 18mm wide belt. Midrange performance absolutely improved, although the 0-5 is a little slower. Still no top speed to report, but the MHR has enough torque to run heavier weights/lighter spring for low-RPM cruising, yet easily and quickly tops 65, so the rest is just braggin'. For around-town and expressway performance, I'm LOVIN' this MHR.

Its a good cylinder imagine after porting. The corsa is a pretty tame "race" cylinder until you port that as well. The MHR is a beast pre and post porting.

Flash 6 Grows a Sharper Tail

Post by Wheelman-111 »

Greetings:
Thanks to a kindly Forumista who took pity on Wheelman poverty, Flash now has a proper Exotic Exhaust:

Sharp-eyed Wheelfans will note polysegmented headpipe all the way to the muffler belly. Msn that looks like a lotta work, but announces (loudly) to the world the installation of the venerated Scorpion copy pipe. Check ride down damp Yellarosa street riled up neighborhood dogs and car alarms. Too speed run to follow if things dry out.

Looks nice, I should buy an elite with body work. Thats a nice body there, looks like new, and the scorp just adds a touch of seriousness.

I agree with honda. Is that all original paint and body work or did you do it yourself? Scooter looks amazing.

Looking hot with that Scorpion Pipe. What would you say the power band is with that pipe and BBK combo? 7.5k-10k? How do you like the pipe? Thanks, I am in the market for a pipe and want to know what a non-biased rider thinks. I know you have tried a good variety of them over the years.

Greetings:

Thanks Dawgs. I take no credit for its appearance. Bought in 2009 with 33 miles on the odometer. Except for washing and never dropping it, appearance owed to Honda-san.

Still haven't tested the Scorpion except for 1000-foot up the street ride looking for leaks. Louder than PG Short for sure. Maybe a bit of a flat spot down low, but kicks in harder about where the Short did. Have yet to try a rip WOT. Ms. Wheelperson thinks the pipe looks ugly... Maybe so, but performance matters more to me.

Seems like it is a tad flat down low, but once you hit mid range it absolutely screams. Wheelman, what jets are you running? We have Identical setups. How did you do your gasketing to drop the compression? I just did a .040 base gasket, and the o ring up top. Seems great @ 150psi.
Hes not running a mini stroke on his, most people frown upon the mini stroke and mhr or corsa but it seems others love it. I have yet to run a mini yet I went full out 52.6 for my stroker.

Greetings:

Mine's a stock stroke Malossi crank. Initial assembly with 165PSI, hence 50/50 AvGas fuel. Stock Malossi base and O-Ring. I think my jets were 52/155, but have o scroll up the thread to verify.

Just did take a sunset cruise down Ocean Drive. Ran hiccup-free, pulling like a Kenworth at 8500. Part throttle cruise upwind at 45MPH, 7600 RPM, but temps nudged up slowly to 400 and stayed there until I cracked the throttle, where it dropped to 378.

Just about bent the speedometer needle, spinning 9450. Evidently Malossi doesn't need 10.5K RPM to go fast. Not packing Garmin, but went over 65 for sure, and got there faster than Polini albeit with a stiff tailwind. (it blows hard in Yellarosa.) I am not certain the Scorpion performance gain over the PG Short is all that remarkable, but do believe the Malossi has More low end than the Polini did. Top speed depemds more on RPM, however, so it remains to be seen if I can exceed the Corsa's 71.2 record. Maybe not until the weather cools.

Thats screaming. I have hit 68 down a slight grade on my purple nurple. 64 on the or 65 on the highway with my 50mm BBK taiwanese, and V8 pipe, 26mm oko, ct intake, w/o a boost port match. I really like the ay the v8 sounds and its midrange is awesome. I have tried the PG Long on the scooter and do not like it at all. I put the PG on my mini stroker engine that I bought from Traffic and like it on there a lot more. I think that engine is close to 90cc though.

Do you guys think the aftermarket clutch is worth the money? Do they grip much better than the stock honda one?

Greetings:

Stock clutches work great to about 5 HP. Add much more, and even with stiffer triple springs the stock clutch fades on the second launch. The Polini adjustable on Flash 6 has survived 6 or more builds. That said, the limiting factor is the 107mm diameter. It's simply too smal, regardless of design or quality.

Thanks, I have been wondering what the fade was from on purple nurple! What is best bang for the buck for a clutch? Are the 2 shoes and 3 shoes much differrent in performance?
