Did you have the short or the long on your old build? I noticed with my short it doesnt hit as high rpms as my expansion chamber pipes. And its near same with the long except I get 480 more rpms. Could be a simple jet too small when I was running the short. Both PG pipes are better than the YMS V8 for top end.

Greetings:

I've had both the Long - early on - and the Short. It eventually ran faster with the short, but more the result of tuning better with more experience than the pipe's characteristics. The 71.2MPH was attained with the Short. Never broke 70 with the Long, but again, I wasn't tuned as well.

An enviable accomplishment for a 49cc class scooter none the less, Im interested to see what the short does on the MHR.

Greetings:

Spark plug was the color I dream of when I dream of The Perfect Plug Color .

Compression "Dry" was 140. Too lazy to remove shrouds, the gauge o-ring might have been a-leakin' too. Starter still stumbles against compression, so I'm not too worried about the apparent drop but it was 165 with assembly oil.

PG Short is installed, no time to re-tune. Bottom end as tuned for Simioni is not as good.

Short drop down Lucas Overpass on Deepinnaharta Freeway and 1/8th mile flat led to 66.9

MPH without trying all that hard. Let up for traffic ahead, but felt like my dream of 72 MPH on 72ccs was once again within reach. CHT said 374 when I let up. Rheumy Wheel-eyes didn't catch RPM, but guessing 9700 or so. Still climbing too. Right quartering tailwind at 12 Knots. Flat road. Wheelman don't tuck.

Random Comparisons

Post by Wheelman-111 »

Greetings:

The MHR/Malossi crank setup may or may not eventually exceed the 71.2 speed achieved by Flash 3.26 Corsa. Riding last evening I noticed the Malossi seems to have considerably more torque, and develops that torque at a much lower (9000 instead of 10K) RPM than the Corsa did. This makes accelerating out of traffic far less noisy and dramatic. Further tuning when I can might even realize my Dream of 72 MPH on 72ccs. More to come.

With that said, would you suggest the ministroke with the polini corsa/MHR or stick to the stock crank? Ive seen baka say a couple of times to leave the crank stock if you run the 72s. Just curious to see how you feel about it after running both ways.

Greetings:

Polini & Malossi both spent hundreds of hours with talented engineers getting the port timing Magic. Ministroking that masterpiece is akin to painting a moustache on the Mona Lisa. Malossi stiffer runs awesome smooth and in creases transfer percentage as a Stuffer design, but it is stock stroke as Pauly said or close to it. I should've measured.

Oooo good to know! Is it worth the money in your opinion? What's the difference between the malossi and stock crank if any?

Greetings:

Never have run the MHR on a stock crank, so can't compare performance.
I suspect the stuffer is part of the reason for 160 psi compression. Sure seems less buzzy at speed.

You should try tucking then you'll see that 72mph in no time. You'll be surprise with how much wind your body catches and holds you back...
