Need to put the carb on the suction side Of the pump.
Or you need a blow through carb.
That carb isnt designed to see positive pressure.

Cool build!!! :peace:

cant run gas threw a smog pump. it will remove all the grease from the unsealed bearings. a few check valves and it will work fine.

Oh thats too bad you cant put it on the suction side.

Where you going to put a check valve?

With that carb fuel is delivered when there is a pressure drop across the venturi. The carb cant sense boost pressure. The carb will deliver the same amount of fuel at 0 psi as it will at 5psi. you are going to have fuel flowing in directions that you dont want it to causing a lean condition. And Pending on boost levels it may crush the floats.
The other problem will be fuel pressure. You would need to up the fuel pressure with boost pressure or the fuel wont overcome the boost pressure.
You need some way to add fuel enrichment under boost.

Not trying to be difficult but you have alot more problems than a check valve will take care of. I have a bit of experience turboing with carbs back in the day.

Not knocking it cool project. :peace:

thanks for the info. i dont think you knocking me or anything. just sharing your knowledge. most things i have seen/read they just run the same amount of boost to the gas tank as going into the carb.

I don't know anything about smog pumps. But I had two thoughts.
What if you put sealed bearings in the pump? Not sure what kind of a job that would be.

The other thought what if you mixed a little 2 stroke oil in the gas to live to bearings in the pump?

I just wanted to throw the not knocking part out there as text is easily taken the wrong way.

not going efi or any fuel injection. only carbs here. no room for added wiring. there isnt a cost effective way to put seal bearings in there. i might try the 2 stroke oil idea. and maybe see if they make a gasoline resistant grease.

more work done. mount i made is all welded up. found a belt that doesn't require a tensionor. (48x290) we'll see how much it stretch, ill prolly have to add one later. boost gauge is in the mail and along with a carb clocking flange (the pump is in the way of the throttle cable. with tension on the belt just covering the inlet or outlet will kill the engine at idle. for cooling i found a pc fan... this fan spins 5300 rpms... its a brushless dc motor... makes 220 cfm!! so ill be wiring that in and putting it in the other side of the shroud having the hot air exit by the flywheel. hopefully all this stuff shows up before this weekend!

boost test video. showing that it does in fact compress air. http://youtu.be/wf957RfQv2k

so did you just cut this bracket almost in half then run a bead on the groove/channel/gap? I think this is a very clever way to do bends if you dont have a brake-press. Ill have to test this out Thanks for another cool idea.

you are correct bud. it was the only way i could think of bending it. i used a hand saw, pliers, and c clap. then welded in the channel. screws held it onto the wood so i could drill it.

no it just drains the bowl and shuts off. got to get a fuel pump and regulator
