CH80 1 step at a time

Post by deuce217 »

I bought this beast for about 200.00 with title. I figured I would take the drivetrain and put it on a spree. But I also feel that it is a waste of a title, so maybe I should try to make the best out of the ugliest aesthetically built cycle that honda ever created (no offense to anybody that likes the look).

I posted a wanted add on the fs section a month ago looking for an elite 80 exhaust... No luck, and I also have been searching ebay. Not a single one. Take a look at the scooters poor exhaust repair from the previous owner. Notice how they anchored the exhaust to the frame under the seat! This caused compound fractures over the entire exhaust header, all the way to the cylinder mount.

I found this exhaust at a local shop for 8.00 I needed a few bends and do not have a mandrel bender at the moment.

This is what I have so far, the exhaust is a temporary until I find a decent muffler for cheap. It currently has NO baffles (yes my neighbors love me, J/k)

I will admit, no measurements were used during this process, only eyeball measurements.

Does anybody have a small exhaust muffler laying around they want to sell? I need to throw something on the end of this that has some noise reduction, it sounds like a big 4 stroke dirtbike on a race track when I am going down my street!

Thanks Swim. I have been dying to get back in my shop. This was the first scooter work I have done since I got home a few months back.
