Was there a 1990 DJ1/DJ1RR? I thought it was only made in 1987. I could be wrong. But definately a nice bike and project. I just sold mines last week.

Cheers for the comments.

ridediss- I dont think they are that common. Not from what I have seen and can gather anyway. My mate NZHonda was quite jealous when I told him about it lol.

Diodawg- I havent looked into the Chassis code but I think this was NZ New and it was first registered here in 1990...

Havent done alot on it as have been more interested in my 1980 Yamaha V50 I bought just after New Years lol..

Unsure what to do with this scoot... definitely lacking enthusiasm to finish. Its sat in my shed for over 6 months. Possibly considering getting rid of it. Realistically all it needs is a throttle cable and throttle grip, exhaust mounted properly, battery and find out why its leaking oil and it should be rideable.. enthusiasm for its low tho with other projects and bikes like the V50 being more fun

So the bike has been sitting buried under crap in my garage now for a few months and haven't really got anywhere as you will see by the pictures....

but today its been unburied and pulled out so work can commence!

The current plan is to take it on a coast to coast ride here in the South Island of NZL which is called the Scooter Safari, a charity ride which raises funds for our local Cancer Society. Its in late May 2016 so about 4 months to get it running and hopefully a month to get it ironed out! Thats the plan anyway.

I would trim up that front panal, and trim off the floor board holders and put a pair of bike pegs on it and make it look like a drag bike. Clean it up and all. It would be cheaper then buying plastics and all.

I have all the plastics for the bike but it's all up on a shelf as I'm getting it tuned right first before putting them on...

Oooh I see now, I thought you didnt have plastics. Ok yeah I bet its gonna be a good build, just gonna have to work hard and break it in steadily.

UPDATE:- The DJ1 has been living in Paulpauly's garage, and it will be getting a well tuned AF05E motor that he had spare thrown in to get some more go from the old girl. Im not sure on the exact specs (maybe he can put them up?!) but hopefully it should be going and going well soon!
