N.Ireland Honda Vision (Aero)

Post by ck_ni »

Thought you guys might like to see this...picked it up last weekend, its a 1986 Honda Vision...or an Aero 50 to you guys
Was collecting some stuff for my wife and spotted it in a garage so made a deal.
Its sat for a while, but it started up first kick, later found out the spark plug was only screwed in by hand and that there is a massive hole in the exhaust.
So to get it on the road, I am welding up the exhaust, cleaning the carb, popping a fuel filter in it and giving it a clean.
This is not my first scooter so I cant wait to get it on the road.

The evening I picked it up

Vision 50 X... slightly different from what you guys get, indicators integrated into the handle bars and the brake light smoothed in at the back.

Plastics are in very good condition

The exhaust not so much...few holes that need sorted, nothing that cant be fixed

And with its partner in crime, a Suzuki AE50...now sold (08-26-15)

Greetings:

What?! Rust in the pipe??! Must be that arid Irish clime. Or the Peat. :)
I like the turn indicator treatment on the Vision. Tidier than the fairing-mounted Bug-Eyes on the U.S. versions. Otherwise, yup, it's all Aero. What's that red thing?

Exhaust repaired :)
I could of replaced it or upgraded it, but in N. Ireland we are required to put all vehicles through a test every year, so keeping it standard to get it on the road.

Next job is lick of anti rust and paint, and the wheels painted and the whole thing put back together...

Exhausted all painted and ready to go back on...

Rear wheel painted, engine cowl painted and all back on...

I will get the exhaust back on next and a fuel filter in the line as a safety measure...

If I remove the restriction plate from the variator... do I need to rejet the engine?

You shouldn't have to reject the carb. I removed my restrictor from the vari and didn't have to. Although a uni filter and 86 main jet coupled w an upgraded muffler (or modified stock like mine haha) works well for my stock afo5e I'm my 86 aero.

Love the scoot by the way. I've got the same tailight for mine but I cracked it putting it on. Is great seeing another version of my aero50 they're getting rare over here.

Cheers, they are even rarer over here in Northern Ireland.
At the weekend I got it running a dream, everything working.
So its nearly ready to be put in for its test, the only thing I have to sort out is the adjuster on the headlight... its missing, I am guessing I can replace with with another nut and bolt and some sort of spring?

Good to know I don't have to rejet if I remove just the restricting on the variator.

A photo of it all back together again, both wing mirrors and all :)

So jealous of your plastics! That thing is clean. Btw, if you heat up the headlight w a torch you can pull the bulb (after shattering the glass) and swap it w a high wattage h1 or an hid like I did. I also picked up a malossi multivar kit and malossi fly clutch, and pulled the oil pump, really livened it up.
