ok so i'm on the home stretch now (i hope)

took the advice and used loctite on the reed screws.

after sanding the CT base on the bench i then took some meat off to give a little less rubbing against the bore.

taz let me know that i need to block off the IM nipple, so instead of using a rubber block off cap i cut a screw to size and used loctite again. (Note: if you do this be sure to make sure the thread doesn't protrude inside as this may affect flow)

sanded the clutch shoes and inside the bell, the shoes had quite a lip on them but new clutch and trans tuning will take place once the engine is run in.

since the japanese taillight is wired up it was time to make a new plate mount in order for the terrible mudguard to be cut down.

not much left to do now, waiting on a few bits and need to have the gear pressed on.

You can do your heat cycles with just your variator and kicker cover on. That way when you get your gears you can take it straight out and have some light ride time. Your build is looking good though.

Must be hot in AU at the moment too, I hope you dropped a lemon wedge in that Corona ;)

Taz said it uses the same plug (lucky because i ordered 5).

Heat range is max 275.

I would heat cycle now but gears should be done before my tto gauge arrives.

The weather is a mess, its been hot but raining. Thanks for the compliment hopefully soon i can have some running videos.

Taz reccomends BPR6HS,

I have a few BR6HS, from what i have read the "P" stands for protected tip.

Not sure how important that is...

Ok thank you, the protected tip probably burns out if it pre detinates would be my guess.

the big bore kit malosii, polini and taiwan bore kit use spark plug b8hs..

number6 plug will make a hole in the piston..

Wouldnt 8 run hotter, If im not mistaken the higher the hotter so if its a hotter burn wouldnt it risk the hole more? A 6 should run cooler unless the he is from compression then the colder plug vould be an issue.

Ngk b8hs plug is normal on most big bore kit on :wink:

Thanks veedub, im going to look into that. I know for my car its possible to run 2 variants of heat ranges but i assume a bbk calls for a specific plug.

jumps & vdub,

taz has confirmed it is in fact BPR6HS.

so luckily i had a few people bring to my attention the importance of circlip positon.

so this is how they are sitting at the moment (engine hasnt even been ran and the bore has been off 4 times.)

i wont lie, i still don't understand the theory behind circlip position.

im not sure if this is strictly an old dio problem or if spree's suffer from it too but the oem kicker was rusted beyond what id call worth restoring.

so i went on a ebay and picked up the least tacky one i could find.

plenty of clearance between the kicker and clutch bell.

now, the one thing that has been frustrating me the most, the gear.

i imagine in the states & canada every shop has a 20 tonne press, but here in australia everyone seems to have 10 tonne.

so after failing at my regular mechanics with their 10 tonne i rang around, and around, and around.

i found a mechanic that had a 20 tonne press and was told i could come in and use it.

so i went in after work and used it for around and hour, including use of wd40 and safety glasses, when i went to leave i asked the owner how much i owe him, he said "no dont worry about it".

good to know there are still nice people around, needless to say he will be getting a little delivery of alcohol tommorow (alternative australian currency).

Wrong spark plug. Taz misleading .
Those are Taiwan bore 50mm piston. Need port bigger on boost port on crank case.
Should have gone malossi or polini bore. Is bolt on.

Try remove 50mm cylinder head n screw bh8hs.
Then you will know different :mrgreen:
