My 98 Elite SR - disc conversion and more

Post by Ryan_ott »

I guess it's time I post up some progress on my scoot. I picked it up for $300 with under 250 miles on it a few months ago. I decided to go with a corsa, 24mm Polini, Polini variator w/ sef plate. I'm using a modified minarelli rear pully. For the pipe I'm working on building one. Sourced a smoked Kymco tail, chopped up the oem rack so it's not so bulky. Here's some pictures.

Thanks, I like how it's turning out so far. Still a bit more work on the pipe then I'll try it out. It's setup for the corsa's timings so it should work well. It's actually very light because there is no packing. Extra performance, right?

Loud, not at all. That's the mystery of cooling and redirecting sound waves.

Doing some work on my elite. Sourced a headset from the great bones. I decided to go with big brakes on this build. So far so good. Measure twice, make a cut, make another cut then the final cut after its mocked up. Then weld into place. I'll update this as I go. Straight forward so far. Here are some pics for now.

Here is some more tidbits of what is required to make this all work. The lower races on the elite are different then the metro/ ruckus parts. They can be easily adapted by replacing the lower race with the elite part. The upper section where the bars mount is slightly different it's just turned the wrong direction. All that was needed was a notch cut and the through bolt slotted a bit. Next is relocating the mount for the ignition switch. Easy enough with some scrap material. I missed the pics of clearance get the inner fender for the much wider tree. I do need to pull it back apart to cut my steering stops back a bit so I'll get the later. I got the massive 4 piston caliper bleed which took a bit because I can't get to the bleeder screw with it mounted up. They work great. Rolling it in the garage I gave myself a nice nutt check! Functionality it's done. I do have some little bits to do like set up my trail tech.

Thanks guys. The conversion isn't all that difficult as long as you have a welder and some basic tools it can be done. Actually the only thing I think I used a tape measure for was the wheel spacers. It's not really needed for the neck. It just costs money. I'm alittle under 2k including motor and purchase price of the bike.

Bones you don't like my bike stand, it was at the curb and just what u needed for the job.
