Greetings:

As power numbers increase, belt slip with the stock spring strength starts to be a problem. Relative spring tension is easily measured using a fixed end-point and a bathroom scale. See Tech Docs. RPM behavior can be compensated with heavier weights, keeping the same revs across the range with stiffer springs, but there are some performance differences. When you let off, a stiffer spring tends to downshift the pulleys more quickly, enabling faster getaways when the throttle is opened again. Softer springs (and lighter weights to match) are better for mellow steady-state cruising. Oh, and the +1500 etc refers to how much higher THAN STOCK the spring allows movement.

hmm what springs to try first? Green are 5k and the uncoated are "stock"

It depends on the weight of the clutch shoes. If you have an older (88-93) stock clutch then, the shoes are probably very heavy so you would need a stronger spring. The 94-97 motors (af16) had lighter clutch shoes, and the 97-01 motors were even lighter and would take an even lesser strength weight spring to allow higher engagement rpm. If you are using an aftermarket clutch then you would have to inquire further giving the brand name and other info to get feedback on it.

Doesnt really matter which to try first...try em all and pick what works best.

I'd start high and work your way down. I think many would prefer a launch higher up in the RPM's for a quicker takeoff. It's the too low springs that are the most bothersome. Stiffer springs also help when you want to adjust your idle speed a bit higher then normal too. Keeps that back wheel from spinning when the bike is cold and the bystarter is running ya richer till warmed up.

I am about the bite the bullet and build this engine over winter. I just wanted to make sure I order the correct parts, so you are talking....

Corsa,
Top end

Arrow,
Exhaust pipe

Naraku,
Big valve intake

Stage6,
Carb?

I just tossed out names, not specific parts. Thats a personal choice. However the Corsa is a given. Its the best “bolt-on” kit out there for the most performance. Others with less aggressive port timing are great too if your riding style is more mild and you dont feel like racing everywhere. Choose the Corsa if you run WOT 99% of time like I do. Its just not made for putting around doing 25-30 all day like grandma. Once youve chosen a bore kit, then you can decide on supporting parts.

Greetings:

Fabrizi is another good choice, and mine at least was faster than the Corsa I had previously. 49mm slug and 78ccs, high-RPM port timing too. More torque than the Corsa down low.

Where might one find a Fabrizi bbk? Have not seen any for sale for a long time.

Honestly can't recall the foggiest glimmer of where I got mine all those years ago... Now I'm intrigued, may have an invoice in a dusty file someplace. I'll look if I remember and get the chance.

Hey Wheelman, Red Eft went out of biz like 3-4 yrs ago. That was the last place I saw them and they went from a two ring piston to a one ring piston. Can’t find them anywhere in usa maybe italy? I sold the Fabrizzi pipe you sold me because it was a real beotch to mount up. Wonder what you would do if you had one and meeded a new piston and/or rings😳
