I do feel a little bad for not updating in a while. I know its kinda dead here, but I feel compelled to keep the forum info at the ready.

I have a couple other threads on here for various tuning and disk build out.

Since I last posted on this one, I have done quite a bit.

I added a hella supertone horn for good measure,
Disk brakes / forks / custom stem / etc

ZX trans, and its mostly dialed in at this point.
6.8g weights, Keli Variator with SEF plate, 1.5k malossi contra, and malossi ZX belt.

I am running 9.8:1 gears and I can hit about 62 mph in short order, I know everyone goes taller, but I doubt if I ever will.

I also added a cheap Ebay light that was small enough to fit in the stock opening, so I might see at night.

Had to import some Live Dio wheels from Japan and paired them with 90/90 michelin S1 tires.

Went with 200mm disk brake and what I assume is a kymco agility caliper. Got an adapter from someone in Taiwan.

Have moved to doing small appearance tweaks, probably will progress over the summer until the COVID is gone and i can get a motorcycle.

wheres the pictures of this head light you speak of?? looking good nate. but you should have cut the silencer off the muffler and turned it down instead of cutting up your storage compartment. I like the zx wheels. did you get them from that place I told u about? you should bid on a belly pan and a wing. is there a big difference in the stock disk and the hugemungous rotor? can you use the stock caliper or do you have to use the 2 piston caliper?

Panels were already pretty trashed so I didnt feel bad about cutting them. They have a bunch of bondo on the back side, broken plastic bits, and have been repainted with dirt in said paint + crooked decals. I would have felt a lot worse about cutting up a Fabrizi pipe, but I may get a different pipe and mess around if I get new panels.

I thought I had a picture in there of the light, but Ill get one at lunch today, it doesnt look good but its bright lol.

I got the ZX wheels from Buyee, worked out pretty good and would probably use them again. Had to strip the paint and clean them up, I would probably pay for powder coat next time

Im on the lookout for some JDM tact panels but they are all either super faded or too expensive with all the boso guys buying them up. If i do that then i might get a wing or something.

I never got to try out the stock disk as the pads and disk were trash, but I can say that the 200mm twin piston feels adequate from 60-0 and drums are pretty unsafe in comparison.

I got the two piston caliper used with brake line and pads/adapter for super cheap from a guy in taiwan, but you could use whatever you want really. I tried to piece it together to save money, but i think if you bought an NCY kit or something youd make out just about the same. The NG rotor I got is really nice. Used an amazon brake master and that seems to be great too.

I think tuning wise i need to get malossi fly springs and switch clutches. I like the Keli lightweight thats on now, give some slip at start, but i can tell the material is already wearing. I think starting off at 5500rpm with a textured clutch bell is not doing it favors.

Part of me wants to keep the rat rod look going and not make it super clean

I get what youre saying about the panel/ pipe cutting toss up. I wouldn't think of it as cutting up a fabrizi pipe, If you have a good welder, It could be considered a tasteful modification to accommodate a custom application... that sounds professional.. lol
as far as the clutch wear, I cant speak for the keli, but my experience is once the clutch and bell break into eachother, the wear will slow down considerably. and once broke in and contact is made through the width of the pad, ill scuff up the bell with some coarse sandpaper. it will help with the slipping, keep the clutch shoes from glazing. and it shouldn't have to break in again and shouldn't wear the clutch pads much more that time.
looks really good though, for a thrashed throw away scoot. I completely agree with you on the rat rod look. its just easier to move around in the garage and storing it when youre not worried about scratching a panel, having to keep a pretty scooter in a bubble for fear of a scratch or nick.
im glad buyee worked out for you. hopefully you don't have anything in storage over there right now. I got 3 packages stuck over there and 2 packages in shipping limbo till this covid boarder closure is over.

Got the stupid fender on!. Need to replace the busted tail light and put the new turn signal on and ill give it a rest for a bit.

I also polished the panels a bit, or what paint is left. Also did some more stitching on the broken bits. Figure might as well make it look cool and not worry about it getting beat up.

The bumper ties that all the honda kids use proved to be a good addition for the fairings with no screw holes

Thanks yall. I finally got new clutch springs in so I could switch from my Keli Lightweight down to a malossi fly. I had issues in the past with clutch bell offset, so ordered a tfc.

TFC works great but would admittedly slip quite a bit on the line which is cool cause i dont like dumping over. I put the malossi on, and it would start rubbing like it did with the old bell. It really hooks though.

Turns out the contra was pushing the shoes out. I put one of those contra shim things down in there and it works fine now. the malossi doesnt have a cup like most clutches do to hold the contra so it can just float around in there. kinda stupid.

That said, holy s***, i think i gained like 40% more torque. I must have been slipping all the time. Keli clutch has similar pad material to the oem clutch, maybe thats why.

Running white malossi springs with ZX brings me to full engagement a little after 6k rpm. I could probably go stiffer as theres a little dead spot, but not sure i wanna do that just yet. Probably need a stiffer contra too as the malossi 1.5k is letting the belt suck in a little before clutch is engaged, but im really happy with it and have put a lot of miles on it.

Still undecided on oil. used some klotz for a while but noticed a lot of build up. Started over to 927, and unsure if i wanna keep using that or see if the scooterpro stuff works better. im hoping for something that burns a little cleaner as i am paranoid about stuck rings. opinons welcomed

Greetings:

M'eh, oil is oil, for the most part. I've used Motul pre-mix ever since my first Aero, on stock, Polini and then Malossi cylinders. Flash 1-9 has had a number of different cylinders as well. I've never found a problem on rebuilds. That said I'd have no problem using any other synthetic brand as long as it doesn't form Klotz. :)

On that "pre-shifting" transmission issue; It's less trouble to drop 3-6 grams of roller weight than to pull the spring again.

I didnt want to pull weight from the rollers because its right where I want it now, it would overrev if i pulled anymore from it. Still makes plenty of power at 10500 but theres no reason to be there until I hit the edge of the gears

I have malossi fly clutch and green springs in now, Its pretty d*** dialed in right now, though I think i could technically convert to sliders and run a 2k contra, belt still sucks in before i take off.

Ill probably leave it for a while till i get bored and feel like wasting more of my daddy trump bux.

Current setup is

Polini PWK24mm carb 42 pilot, 1 clip lean from middle on needle, and I think Im at 112 or 114 MJ

ZX trans with Malossi Yellow 1.5k Contra
Malossi green clutch springs,
Malossi ZX belt till my SYM belt gets in (ive heard these belts fray)
6.8g rollers
Keli Variator w/ SEF ramp plate
