no probs, scooterwerx-

let me know if you have trouble finding one; i will do some checking around for you. having worked for a Honda dealership in the past, i can also do checking to see what is still in stock (as well as how many) when it comes to Honda parts. ive worked as a tech for Honda, Suzuki, Aprilia / Ducati... and Honda BY FAR has the best parts support. right now i actually work for Vespa. hahaha!

i have some insane hookups in Japan - my buddy over there is literally the "jesse james" of Jap-nation... he's prob the best bike builder there.
i paid like $40 for mine, then just *carefully* dissassembled and r0lled the miles back to zer0.

later, j

Aero Master-Baiter

Post by Wheelman-111 »

Greetings:

An enviable scoot, there is no doubt.

However the title of Aero Master is misplaced: Z-Blank committed the Mortal Sin of replacing the righteous AF05/SE50 powertrain with that of the despised AF16/SA50, thus bypassing the heartache and joy of finding Aero go-sort-of-faster parts that are so elusive - and so darned satisfying to locate.

Thus the title of Black Belt of Tai-Kwan-Aero rightfully rests only with those who chose to retain and improve the engine that God and Honda-san intended for this classic scoot. All bow to Werx and CGJ in the One True (Aero) Faith. Heresy will not be tolerated. :)

Ahh come on AF16 is still Honda, Honda San would have wanted it this way but the Aero line died off before it ever had a chance for an almighty factory dio style engine :P

Awesome!! hahaha!!!

been there, done that :D in 02 when the project started, i built an AF05 with a Metrakit 65cc cast iron bore, Proma Exhaust, Kitaco 18mm carb kit, variator, malossi reed petal (vision), malossi trans gears, polini kevlar belt, ignition, later added the Okumura pipe.....

after seeing the power the AF16 engines were capable of, along with the vast selection of parts - i had to build one. we are supposed to be having a big winter storm hitting tonight, go figure. im ready to get break in completed!

even in 2002 Aero / SE engine parts were getting scarce, so i know what Wheelman-111 must be going thru... thumbs up to anyone who even attempts to build an AF05 engine!!

much thanks for the compliments... jc

Johnny5,

Dam dude.... now thats a freaking compliment. much appreciation for the kind words. :D

Is that your white '87 NB50 in your avatar pic? i swear dude... every time i see pics of the "shasta" white and blue '86-87 NB50's, i want to build one, and question myself if i should have built mines in white and blue.

-i would LOVE to build another Aero for my 'lady in the shasta white scheme. i bought a 1999 Elite S (converted to SR-spec) for her so we ride together, but somehow she always ends up riding the Aero and i'm on the S. go figure.
i think ya just motivated me to do some digging on honda's parts stock site to see what's still available... i know that there are still a few white panels floating around American Honda's stock, but i'm not sure about the blue seat and blue "interior" (as Honda calls it) glove box / floor panel.

Much love EliteS120ccJDM - thanks your the compliments, too my man-

later man - jon

scooterwerx,

i only go thru Patrick Day to get all my scooter parts. im sure you have heard of him; he's "daywot" on Ebay. -Pat can get ANYTHING... what he puts on Ebay is only a couple basic parts.

jonsteffen, that site i was referring to is a site that American Honda dealers have access to so parts availability can be checked. im not personally a Honda dealer; nor do i work at the dealer as a tech currently, however i still have my account active so i can do all my cross matching at home and not have to go out to the dealer - or have to bug the guys with all my availability questions.

unfortunately i would be castrated if i was to leak out the info on the site; it's very primitive, and American Honda monitors the site usage and where it's being accessed from - so they would know if i had given it out. sorry bro... believe me, if i could share my account, i most definitely would :D

later guys, jc
