Where do you get these Koso springs from?
Here is a link to the options as well as Koso part number. I have not tried their springs but some people claim they are better, longer lasting than the Malossi springs.

What was the final cost on it? Which bike did you use as a reference to order it? I know a few people have used them but it wasn't cheap.

Someone can probably explain this better, but it basically has the clutch shoes on a cammed pin, so at whatever rpm the springs are set it, the shoes shift onto the cam and give you positive engagement so its not soley relying on the centrifugal force. This means there is less slipping that occurs while it is engaged and more power goes to your transmission instead of turning into heat.

lost some take off ( will solve that with stiffer springs)
but from about 5MPH up pulls a lot better
and the riding rpm's are lower because the clutch isn't slipping
and the clutch bell isn't as hot after a ride
worth buying in my opinion

Polini 3 shoe polini bell
and from 10 up there is a noticeable change in acceleration
changed it back to the polini setup and the bike was slower
not knocking the polini clutch it is a great clutch for the money

but the dr pulley clutch works better on my setup in my opinion

graphite9 wrote:springs are only going to effect your bike on engagement. Any gains from 10mph+ have zero to do with clutch, unless yours is slipping really bad. What clutch were you running previously? I've never had any slip issue with any of my italian stuff. My 3 shoe on the built ported corsa bike engages at 6500 and it never slips. This is a neat design though, Im interested in seeing how it does over the long haul

I run a 3 shoe and never felt any slip mine is set a little lower and hit around 6k. If mine slips I've never felt it. Mine launches right nice and I'm sure if I upped the springs I wouldn't be able to keep the wheel down on launch. As it sits the front tire still floats around even when trying to keep it down.

Once your clutch is locked in its locked in. If it was slipping you wouldn't move much. Simple. Unless you're installing with dirty fingers on the pads or bell or too tight of springs. But once again you would not move much. If there is slip it will only come from the belt after full engagement. Other wise your nice clutch bell would be toast and so would your clutch pads. Any slip of the clutch will result in obvious signs on the clutch or bell. I do clutches every single day on bikes with extremely more power than our honda vert could EVER produce and they do not ever slip.
The hit clutch only uses positive engagement thanks to the cam and once again once it's locked in its locked in and it will give a solid take off. The biggest and worse complaint about the hit clutch is it will not disengage sometimes and it will causes the bike to lurch after coming to a stop. A lot of vespa and Aprilia guys use to use them but everyone has gone away from them due to all the various issues and of course people hitting cars from their clutch not disengaging.
Just like the J costa variators it was a fun trial for some but they have all changed back to clutches and variators that are proven on the track or street.
The reason one clutch over another gives you better power or speed is thanks to the clutch engaging on a higher rpm that is more into the power band or one is not set up properly.. Which can be done with any clutch assy. Speed after take off is from the variation not clutch grabbing differently.
Placebo effect is a big thing as well.

They sure are neat looking I should add but function over form is the way to go for the long run.

I just looked at that J.Costa variator for the first time. I've never even heard of it. It looks interesting, but maybe missing something because I don't see what it is supposed to do differently than a normal variator.

The best springs to run IMO are Daytona Springs. They seem stiffer then the advertised % so Idk what to say about that lol but they last for a VERY long time.
