Greetings:

Just checking in to let you know Flash 9 is still alive. Ms. Wheelperson sent me to the post office. I stole a ride.

Wind was 5-10 from the starboard stern. I can gain 2 MPH by rolling my shoulders a little. Wheelman still don't tuck.

Noice, was wondering how this build was doing. How did flash 6 do with the alm mallossi bore? You never really updated it and was instreted if you ever found out why it would not rev up and was so hot.

Greetings:

I'm certain the MHR never lived up to its potential due to lack of tuning time and dedication as well as the temptation to go Fabrizi. The bore looked amazing on dismantle, but it never topped 70 in my hands.
Meanwhile F9 still looks pretty good under the storage compartment:

This is after several hundred miles. No leaks I could find anywhere.

Golden boy spoons red gal...

Looks like a lucky fit, its amazing how life sometimes throws fits like that at us. My spree just happens to fit in my back hatch perfectly. Too bad it has wheels now. Hahaha

Greetings:

Both scooters got new batteries from Amazon. The Elite's was only $16, SHIPPED! The larger Reflex battery was $30. Both were shipped in bubble wrap via USPS, surprisingly. Anyone who's been to the post office has heard the question: "Is there anything perishable, fragile, hazardous or liquid..?" I mean you just have to pick it up to know it's a BATTERY! But they arrived, surviving the 3-foot drop into the mailbox and for now the improvement in F9's willingness to turn over on the E-Start is tangible. The old Reflex battery was holding only 12.6V; the new one charged up to 13.24. The Elite's old battery was also put on the charger for 8 hours and managed only 11.68V, the new battery 12.65. Makes a difference.

Buzzing around Deepinnaharta, I had the opportunity to assess Flash9's acceleration while keeping an eye on the Vapor tachometer. When the throttle is first cracked open, I noted the RPMs quickly climb above 8000 RPM but the Pants-O-Meter doesn't relay all that much neck-snapping, wheelie-producing acceleration. Keeping the throttle open wide, the tach drops to low-to-mid 7000s and THEN the acceleration improves considerably.

So apparently my current setup is OVER-shooting the meaty part of the power band for this Stock-carb, Stock-pipe Contesta bore and falling off the far end of the Torque Curve on take-off until the driven-face cam "catches up" to the slowly-accelerating scooter and drops the revs. I don't recall specifically what the roller load in my variator is currently, but I plan to increase whatever it is by 3 or 4 grams and re-test. This will coincide with the installation of the much-admired Malossi ZX belt in my ZX trans setup. This is posted here mostly for my own amusement, but maybe someone else can benefit from my findings. Special Bonus Pic is from last July.

All your rides are so clean, My new 2005 scion used to glimmer like that but after all those years no amount of waxing and washing can keep a car nice and pristine when out in the sun 24/7.

I miss Texas, used to live in Houston and Katy when I was really young. It would of been a better life if we had stayed, but eh I will be back one day most likely.

:2thumbs: Clean like it should be!

Had some time to tune. I removed the variator and rediscovered my weight load.

I mentioned the performance issues I had surmised in my previous post. In with the new:

The verdict? Better! I might add another 2 grams for further lag reduction.

Looks like peak power occurs at 8500. It has gotten a lot warmer in Deepinnaharta, so a drop in top speed isn't a surprise. Held wide open, crosswinds, for about 3 minutes and peak temp hit 385. Takes off like a champ!

Yes, this is forward lean only. Tucking elbows in gains 1 MPH. Maybe I should remove mirrors? 385 degrees with 42 gram load held wide open for like 3-4 minutes. The air screw seems to like 5/8 turn open only. Wondering about an air leak now, but no sign of one. Hot humid ambient temps limit top speed.

Hi wheelman. try a fan scoop? see if the temps come down At high speed.

I might gut the fan intake to improve flow, but I'm not sure how much the scoop helps. I had one on the previous engine, but never ran back-to-back to see a trend.

Hi Wheelman. The scoop Really work for me at high speeds it kept the cylinder temperature down a bit. Corsa, stock carb, stock pipe.
I have a extra homemade PCV type one. if you want it you can have it. Pm me address I'll ship it. :thumbwink:
