Massive Honda Spree Restoring Project - Check it out!

Post by jerz40 »

Hey all, I guess you could call me the King of Sprees! What I'm gonna show is a massive Honda Spree restoring project that started in January 2016 and is something I'm still working on and making progress with. Starting last Spring, 2015, I began collecting the Sprees and parts nationwide, as I just kept finding them everywhere and people would make me such good deals I couldn't resist! Even with my garage, sheds, etc. loaded. I was finding them all over in Michigan, to Illinois, to Kentucky, and even as far as the Florida keys! Once September rolled around and I had finally got my last big deal spree lot, we figured that was enough and we would try and fix up what we have. That lasted till October, when I took a break to enjoy the holidays. Then, once all the holidays were here and gone, and the decorations put away, it was time to get serious! 8) January 2016 - I got lined up all the Sprees that needed to be gone through and completely tore down. With the help of a few great friends, we had em all down in a couple hours. After teardown was complete, it was time to sort the parts, in a fashion where it was all frames, all forks, all fenders, etc. Once that was all over, now here comes the real fun part, CLEANING! :( If only people would ride these Sprees on the road and not through the field or in mud baths

*As I add photos of the progress I will continue on* :)

I used Krylon Super Maxx. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND it! Just a tad bit darker than original, but in the end you'd never know and it looks GREAT!

July 2016 - The end is near for most of them. Some shipments that arrived a few weeks later such as Tires, Air Filters, Ignitions are finally on making the sprees nearly done. Just a few plastics and turn signals. I kinda forgot and got a little busy to take pictures during May & June, that's why the photos kinda jumped ahead.

A HUGE thank you to chopchop123 or tazland123 for the deal on ignitions! Saved me alot of time by going to the key shop and getting my "No-Key Ignitions" keyed. :D

And then finally, which is all I have for now, are 3 photos taken yesterday 7/30/2016 of a SUPER CLEAN and RESTORED Honda Spree I was bolting up as that Spree is completely finished. A job well done. More photos to come soon! :)

Greetings:

You know those ads on TV that say "93 Percent of Volvo/Subaru cars built since 1985 are still on the road"? Well I say 99% of Sprees are in Jerz's garage!

A thing of beauty they are! I can think of no one who's done more to uphold the motto of the Honda Spree and Elite 50 Forums; Keeping Spree Elite Aero 50cc and Gyro Alive!. (See in banner above...) What extraordinary care and attention to detail. Hope you get a $G for every one of them! (But keep the nicest for yourself... :) )

You will probably know more about the assembly of these bikes than Honda-san himself, and probably be able to put one together even faster!
