Honda SA50P Starting to derestrict

Today I ordered a 78 jet for my Elite. I plan on drilling the exhaust, taking plate off variator, and ziptieing the oil pump open. Is there anything else that is recommended to derestrict this? I'm still new to working on scooters.

I'm in the same position as you. Sounds like you have the basics covered. I've been told the next steps after that are variator/rollers and gears. Mine came without the plate on the variator, and no washer in the exhaust. I haven't rejetted yet, but I raised the needle. I'll proceed with upgrades after a sort out some inconsistencies in its behavior.

Yeah I'm not looking to spend too much for the upgrades, but I still want to go faster.

Variator and gears are a good cheap upgrade to start. First thing I did on mine and made big difference

^^second that. I picked up a clutch, belt, and multivar and it made the most difference. I would do tranny stuff first. I would also get a jet kit instead of a single jet. Naraku makes a kit for the stock carbs that has alot of choices if your not planning on changing the carb out.

There's a thread on "zx trans how-to". If you plan on doing a gear change too, then read this thread and see how to get the most from your ratio.

Thanks for the reply. Where can I find a Keli variator? Also should I still open up the oil pump with ziptie and how would it look like?

Keli is about 50 bucks
A mallossi belt 38 bucks
Zip tie the oil pump .25 cents or 4 bucks if you have to buy a pack
Upjet 10 bucks at most
Dewasher the exhaust free
Press on a new set of gears 50-80 bucks if yyou can press it or not also matters.

When you say "If i can press it on or not matters"

Are you meaning if its possible to do it at all or meaning if I myself can do it?
I can have my mechanic do that for a price :)

Like if you can press a gear on your own say you have a press or are willing to your your call and a wall as a press or you can bring it to a shop.

I saw those Malossi gears. However, the 16/32 primary gears would bring my ratio from its current 10.2 to around 7.82. (someone please check my math) Would this be ok with a stock bore? Are there other ratios available? Id hate to completely destroy my take-offs with too steep of a ratio.
