What's up everybody! Fairly new to this site and have been lurking since I purchased this beauty. Not new to the Scoot game as I have been Ruck'n it out with TR but feel this is the best home for this build since the site is bike specific. Started a thread over at TR for this bike, but it was when I decided to go with the swap, is when I knew she should be here.

Well here she is! 1987 Honda Spree with the "OHH SO DESIRABLE" Kriti Blue! I went through a few different names/themes and was up until I photo shopped different wheel colors that PINK was the perfect match for the MINTY'NESS! So with previously selling my Wife's metropolitan and her fetish with Victoria's Secret, i introduce to you in her honor, "Victoria's Spreecret"

In progress for about a month now so i'm just going to dump the photos that I have in this first post with headings of the timeline.

CraigsList Ad Pic - I was SOLD SOLD SOLD on the color. $300 cash, Clean Title, Didn't Run (He said the fuel diaphragm was bad...) I used that as a negotiating tool since his asking price was $420. Long story short, carbs clogged lol, typical... :2thumbs:

And at her new home!

LETS GET NAKED!

Plastics cleaned up really nice, only one broken off tab that i found that held the cluster to the housing. Screw and broken piece was still in there though so i'll GET it glued back together.

Scrap Pile Headed to Work to get Blasted with some Black Beauty

Fixed the broken weld on the center stand and SHES ALL STRIPPED DOWN! (Didn't remove the tires because they will most likely be changed anyways, and this ain't no show bike that's for sure lol)

That's the tear down, I'll start another post to catch up with the re-build.

Got a few good coats on her frame the same day she was blasted so she didn't flash over with rust (d*** the Humidity in FL).
Image

While the paint was drying i started on the motor just to make sure everything checked out to sell it in the future if needed.
Image

Starter didn't spin: 1. because the Bendix was missing :*: 2. Wouldn't spin by hand easily
Took it apart, clean up, hot wired it to the battery, works perfect now from what I can tell (FYI it is a PITA to get those springy things back in :x

Krylon Fusion Paint in Satin Black goes * of a long way on the engine plastics.

Been communicating with Alex aka "Sgt Spree" and he has shown me the way to do the front Ruck conversion for the bigger brakes if I don't go disc. So I scored the required bearings/races off an Elite. They seem to fit the stock Spree assembly just fine and got rid of those d*** LOOSE BALLS. But the elite bearings are intended for the Ruck Triple Swap. Also snagged the missing exhaust heat shield dealyo with hardware (ONLY ONE ON EBAY WITHOUT THE WHOLE d*** EXHAUST SYSTEM!)
Image

Here's how she sits as of 8/30! One of the exhaust shroud bolts are having a hard time going in so im going to have to run a thread chaser though to clean it up and get it to where it will tighten. Although im not keeping the AF05, I went ahead and got it all together so i would at least have a roller until the AF16 shows up.

SO THAT ALL BEING SAID....
Today I purchased my AF16E from a member here, WWOLVERT. Great dude, awesome communication, great price, and since he has a s*** ton of stuff on for sale on here, he went ahead and threw in the Spree starter Bendix that I was missing. Thanks man! This review might change pending the condition of the motor when I received it HAHA! But, hopefully everything check out and this build goes as smooth as I hope it to be.

Now that I have a good foundation to work off of I will be scouring the Spree/Dio builds in search of ideas, assistance, tipe, & tricks. I have already have had good communication with Brandon at SSS. As soon as I get my priorities in line with this build, my hard earned money will be coming your way Brandon lol !!!

So he had a 93 mount, my engine is coming with the 98 mount (98 engine). Looks like I'll just be doing some cutting, shaving, and deleting the center stand correct? Any hacking and re-welding needing to be done? Also read that I need to waller out the frame holes because the mount uses a 10MM bolt where as the spree uses an 8MM?

If you google af16 spree engine mount the first thing is a wiki how to. Go all the way to the bottom as the first part is for a af05. Long and short of it is you need to shave about 6-8 mm off the right side of the mount I believe ( longer then the opposite side) and don't bother drilling the mount out at the engine side cuz that's a pain to get perfect get your self two dowel pins that hold the kickstart cover in place. And put those in the bushing on the engine now the mount and the engine bushings are the same inner diameter find a bolt and your set

Ohh * that's easy! I'll try to source some extra dowels and mock something up for reinforcement. It really is a chinsey * frame :nervous: But as soon I sell my spare GET motor and 10x8 Fatty, i'm going to GET that frame stiffener and shock mount relocation plate from SSS. Now I have noticed some swaps people were able to keep all the plastics uncut (just from what i can tell) and I need to figure out what i need to do to keep it as sleeper as possible. Good info on the WIKIHOW :geekdance:

Thanks all, keep the info flowing and feel free to post up pics for reference!

my rear panels fit great with no trimming but im horizontal  Spruckus had to do some light trimming and some heat work to get it how he liked it. but hes hardtail and low af so if you have suspension it shouldnt be tough to get plastics to fit good. yes i was going to mention to you to get the SSS gusset, im running one on my bike. i didnt say anything cause i saw you already painted the frame

It's just paint lol, not like its powder coated. I may look into some cheap plastics for now for trial and error so I don't have to start wackin on my RARE BLUES!

Check this out that's on CL just about an hour south of me. Probably worth it just for the plastics...

As hothatch mentioned I was able to fit all my plastics with the tiniest bit of trimming and now that I made a custom pipe I technically didn't need to trim the exhaust side. But with my CT intake and carb I used a heat gun to bubble over the carb. But I am literally as low as I can go befor the engine touches the frame. Most people at stock height have have to literally just trim a tiny piece off the carb side to fit with suspension.

Should use that secound spree and make a ratrod if you have a welder and a bmx frame make a franken spree that seems to be a hobby some people on here do.

Also I have welded up my frame for added bracing because the stock spree isnt meant to be rated over 180lbs so I am cutting it close so I had a simple set of welds done and the bike feels so much more solid in the rear.

Thanks bud! I like the way you reinforced the engine mounting point (ROUND THEM CORNERS OFF!).

I will be getting the frame stiffener and shock mount (stiffener for other side) from SSS if he still has any by next week.

As for a ratrod project, wont be anytime soon, i have this to play with next :urban: and close enough to a BMX frame lol
