aero 50 µùºÕăõ╗ÿ style

Post by karupisusukutaa »

what's up everyone! recently I made a little road trip from socal to norcal to pick up an aero 50 off craigslist for $150. pretty good deal but not running, missing a battery, ignition, key, with pretty much all the panels cracked and the seaf torn. I don't mind, I love having a project and it was tough for me to even find an aero 50 om CL in the first place. beggars can't be choosers haha.

anyway I wanted an aero 50 specifically after being heavily interested in japanese kaido racers and old scooters/cars. I'm sure a lot of you know the aero 50 is the honda tact in japan. my plan is to get this running and get tact body plastics, a k-style under cowl, long nose, long tail, new seat cover, ab-11 squash rear shock, and no front suspension. very excited to ride around on it.

as of right now I've got the scooter taken apart in my garage. have a new fuel petcock, carb kit, battery, and ignition/key on the way. gonna take about a bucket of degreaser to clean everything haha

not sure if my pictures are posting on mobile. if not I'll link to an imgur album

I use yahoo auctions japan to find items, and have friends in japan who can bid on items for me. between that and ebay it seems I can get anything I need.

many people in the car world use jesse streeter to bid for them on yahoo auctions. look him up, he has a website and a business based around nothing but bidding on the auctions

also, if anyone is wondering, the kanji in the title means "kyuugentsuki" or "old low displacement scooter/motorbike". I uploaded some photos for examples if anyone is interested.

Spray some wd-40 under the plastic cap to loosen up the plastic, and dissolve the grit. (Good solvent). It should then pop off with some wiggling. Pull up. Under that should expose x2 phillip head screws holding a metal half circle clip, which holds the choke mechanism in place. Twist that thing gently to remove. U dont wanna damage the rubber O ring on it that seals it. Def wanna clean the inside of that and its passage ways. If it gets stuck closed you'll have hard starts. Stuck open results in bad running or dying after starts because it constantly chokes.
