Hi Forum.
Giving you guys an update on the motor performance. I've been driving it for a few weeks and the power is very good. The problem that seems to haunt these air-cooled Taiwan big bore kit is heat. No matter what fan I put on it it does not blow enough air to keep the cylinder cool at wide open throttle. Half throttle I can Cruise. Wide open throttle they run hot.
I recommend the water cool Big Bore kits for longer wide open throttle runs. The air cools are more for stop and go cruising runs.

Set up:
54mm Big Bore Kit
52.6 mm crank
30 mm carb, 145 Maine, 38 pilot,
7.5 ZX Drive, polini for Ruckus variator
Not sure what ts top speed is still breaking it in.

Hmm, could be extra heat from the break-in? Rings not fully seated yet? ....Ive had a BBK cool down 20-30 degrees just by more ride time.

Possibly try a hotter (or colder) spark plug if you have one on-hand. Some plugs handle full throttle better than others.

I enjoy reading your builds, ped. The information and detailed pictures have helped me immensely. I considered going LQ myself and researched it quite a bit but I just cant get beyond one detail.....the radiator. I know theres no real way to totally conceal it within the nose and still have it "breathe" the way it needs to. I thought of a custom fab cowl/scoop using fiberglass with side-exit ducting using the front glovebox compartment. Similar to the design of the Zuma pre-bug headlights but housing a small radiator.

Keep up the great work, ped! Cant wait to see results!

Greetings:

Uh, looky-thar, Cooter! That-thar radiator gots scooter stuck on it!!

Ah, Ha-Hah! I kid you...
Still the aerodynamics might offset some of the power gains for top speed Braggin' Rights. I wonder if two smaller units in series could be tucked away somewhere?

Hi wheelman. I know the radiator looks big. But the scooter runs cool. :geekdance:
I do have one of two smaller radiators that I ordered. They would be going on the side of the glove box or possibly next to the motor. Haven't decided yet. :nerd:

Cleanest way to do it imo is to put it right behind the front wheel in that plastic.
