Elite S stock tuning Help

I just bought a 2001 Elite S and had a couple questions about getting the most out of my stock cylinder. I am currently running a Kelli variator, Daytona #2 ramp plate, 9 gram weights, Uni air filter and 100 jet in my stock carb. I wanna add an exhaust but not sure if i Should change my 12:1 stock gears. Also does anyone know what the top speed od stock gears are? Thanks

the stock gears will max around 45mph.drop some 9to1 gears in there.that should streatch out your power more and give you about another 7-9mph topspeed.

There are 2 9:1? are you talking about the 9:8 or the other...

Stock gearing 1994-later is 12:1. 9.1:1 seems to be a good choice if you retain stock power. 9.8:1 are favored by some who focus on good take-off but the stock engine can pull 9.1:1s to near 50 MPH. 9.8:1 might be a bit short even for a stock engine on top speed.

My old elite s used to bury the needle ... do you what MPH you are at when you bury the needle? thanks

My GPS says 55 as the needle goes parallel to the lower part of the speedo opening. That's using a 90/90 front tire.

about 58mph if it tucks under the gray section below the word turn.

So will the 9.8:1 gears get me to 58 mph or do i have to go to the 9.1:1?

better with the 9to1 gears but with a stock bore it will take a while for it to get up that fast unless your going down a hill. on the flat 58mph will be maybe max if your tune is right on par.if you want to get to 58mph easier, a bbk will be needed.
