Re: how do ppl know how fast there goin
GPS unit measures speed pretty accurately. Same type most people run in their car.
Re: how do ppl know how fast there goin
Ive heard of people using bicycle spedos and have good results.

and i dont know about a GPS lol only if it tells me what streets are 35mph
Re: how do ppl know how fast there goin
GPS gave me a base line of what my speedo looks like at different speeds. For example when I am going ~40 on my scooter the speedo needle is pointing at the "F" on the fuel gauge. Now I know and don't need the GPS anymore.
Re: how do ppl know how fast there goin
I either have my car gps in my bag while riding, or my phone running a GPS logger program. I have been doing much more of the later recently as it will export into google maps, so I can see if the top speeds are cheating on hills...

GPS Temporary Installation
Greetings:
The Garmin suction cup mounting lends itself to Scooterization:
With a side-by-side reading, one can place a little mark on the needle position at known speeds, then affix a bit of adhesive tape for a more permanent marking. Some have gone to the trouble of Photo-Shopping a speedometer face, adding markings up to 60 MPH then printing on an adhesive paper and installing inside the clear lens for a very professional end result that reads to the limit of the needle travel. Me? I'm too lazy. Strips of muffler tape tacked over the lens.
That Aero's needle used to disappear with 65cc kit and gears...

Good only to calibrate the speedo. Otherwise Hurricane-force winds blow the thing around and really cuts into top speed. For cool, see who's Velcro-flush-mounted a GPS right inside his handlebar cover! No fuel gauge or winker lights, though...
