Ask the guy what the PA number is on the carb is. The number should be PA04G (1985 thru 1987). If it isn't then it is a crap shoot but most of these carbs are adaptable to just about any 50 cc engine.

After I read your post, I did ask the seller for the code.

*, the carb manufacture always puts codes on the carb, usually on the flange. Otherwise how the * would anyone know what the carb is?. He is definately full of crap and doesn't want to bother to look.

I would agree with Bear....it is probably crap if it does not have the i.d. code on it.

As well, I know what kinds of parts you use on you builds; primo stuff.

If you need a complete, new stock carb, there is only 1 way to go: OEM Honda.

There is no number on that Carb because it is from China. Alot of stuff China makes has no numbers or a simple 3 digit number that won't help you out in comparing OEM parts with aftermarket. The best thing to do is rebuild your OEM carb or find the exact replacement

I sense there's some background to this outwardly unwarranted denigration. I don't know where this presumed bickering occurred and can't be bothered to find it. I do know that it doesn't help make the list a friendly place, and Michael is probably exactly right on this one if'n you axt me, B. The Criminals don't bother to copy the ID markings so they can't as easily be accused of patent violations.

Gees Wheelman, you miss the point. Regardless of who made the carb, there are ID Markings on it of some sort, or else how the * would even the manufacture know what it is?

Case in point: The Hot Surfaces exhaust. I pored over it, square mm by square mm (it's Metric!...) nary a code anywhere on it. Zilch. Nada. None. Only a couple of chinese characters on the very generic-looking plastic heat shield, subtitled Hot Surfaces - Do Not Touch.

I haven't specifically seen that on Carbs made in Taiwan etc., but I HAVE seen it on jets for the clone OKO/PWK carb. If I could take a decent picture I'd show you. It's a Jet, for cryin' out loud, with no way to tell its size except gauging! Evidently it saves dozens of pennies not to have to do pesky engraving, and price is everything.

The manufacturers know what it is because they put it in a box with a label off the Production line. They never expect to see it again, because their Warranty Program is summarized: Tough Ruck!

Over the past two years, I've read a handful of posts suggesting not to purchase these carbs at any price. Better off with a used Stock unit, properly cleaned and re-kitted.

I'm certainly skeptical and a supporter of OEM vs. this no-namer....

Perhaps it's worth a shot, maybe the electric choke is OK....it's a $45.00 crap-shoot.

My clone carb is 2+ years old, but the pictures show some of the design changes and differences.

This carb was sold as a drop in replacement, no tuning required. But did not run correctly. I pulled it apart, found a main jet, throttle needle and emulsion tube would be needed (to get those parts to match the OEM carb). Plus it was not running correctly at idle (cold idle way too rich, warm lean) Adding up the costs, and that the float, float needle and seat were different, I found another OEM carb to rebuild.

The fallback of using it's bystarter in an OEM carb did not work. It fit, but the needle and brass collar for the air valve were visibly different. Idled too rich when cold, would not run w/o babysitting the throttle. Since the Clone carb was having the same problem - maybe the clone bystarter was bad? Or possibly the engine it was turned for had different needs?

Float seat is brass, but not a replaceable screw in part

Float itself has a metal tab to actuate the needle. Take a look at the twist near the inside of the float, it looks hand adjusted to the needle. The needle is all metal, rather than a soft tipped design. Which clone scooter would we guess at to get replacements?
