malossi aero jetting

Post by turtle13 »

ok so im going to try to get the engine back in the aero tomorrow, but being a new carb not really sure where to start. i feel like a 40 pilot and 100-110 main may be in the ball park, but not really sure with this 19mm OKO since i think i may be one of the only people running one on here.
since im gonna have to up the premix ratio for oil should i go bigger for a while also?
baka - tjams - bear - wheelman or any of the other guys got any suggestions?

well balls! so being the idiot i am i forgot to order a replacement throttle cable... anyone know where i can procure a replacement cable that will work well with the OKO? or what the correct length would be? cause unless i feel like re doing the cable end and shortening the housing about 3 inches, no way the stock cable is working. i knew there was one piece to the puzzle i was forgetting.

ok so i got it all bolted in and started, however it wont start unless i crack the throttle. plug looks a little wet, but not too much. im thinking its to much pilot jet. sugestions?
however on a side note, i know wheelman always said his malossi kit was more raspy than polini or stock, but i wasnt expecting what i was greeted with. it is almost dirtbike raspy and sharp sounding, its gonna * off my neighborhood... and im going to enjoy it!

On second thought, i'm pretty sure I have an exhaust leak. Came back down to the garage right after I posted that, and I have the lovely sludge dripping down onto the lift...

So I put on the stock exhaust off my wifes aero and seemingly fixed the exhaust leak. Still only wanting to start with throttle open... Then I noticed my petcock was le aking slightly, pulled the tank and started it to run some of the fuel out that was in the line. Low and behold after a second it was idling without a hand on the throtle before it started to lean out and I promptly shut it off as to not do any damage...
im thinking that tomorrow after I figure out how to solve the petcock leak im going to drop the pilot jet by 5 or so and see what happens.
also I noticed that the carb was spewing a substantial amount of gas out the overflow. Im thinking due to the angle of the carb it is filling to much too often. Do I just need to bend the floats to compensate?
now for a fine beer on the deck with the dogs. #cheers#
