Spree throttle cable binding

Hello all fellow Spree'ers,

JUst took the carb off the '86 to clean it and when reinstalling the throttle cable, noticed that it wont work up and down when I screw the collar of throttle cable down into the bore of the carb, otherwise it the cable works fine at the grip when its not screwed down onto the bore of the carb, it just wont work at the grip when I put it onto the carb. I've made sure the notches of the cable linkage line up properly in the bore of the carb too so thats not the issue. Any ideas?

You installed the slide wrong.
