Spree: Looking for new belt.

Post by ahook93 »

My spree is rolling 5k miles so I decided its time to replace the belt. Am I right in thinking a bit wider would yield me a tiny bit of top end?
Today I tried a 24x.5 non-cogged but it was simply to tight to electric or kick start. Im thinking 24.5x.5 cogged belt would be my best bet.. Any input?

You want a longer belt so it will ride higher in the front drive face, which gives you a higher gear ratio, hence higher top speed.

AX23 is definitely too short as I have one sitting in my garage right now with an AX24 on the bike.

When doing the pulley mod you take off more than you need to and then shim the pulley to the right width. However I would not do the pulley mod using the wider belt.
