87 Spree Air Tube Question

I discovered trying to get my 87 Spree to run that the previous owner thought some panty hose was sufficient instead of the air filter. I'm wondering if air tubes are interchangeable between models? My boyfriend has an 86 and we can't see any differences.

My Zuma was stolen today so I figured I'd focus my effort on the old girl.

i think so .... put a pop cap on the end of hose with 2 7/16 holee and it will run wright..

Dude that's brilliant

that's so a fix for a missing air box you could put the pop cap in a free flowing filter and not have to up jet?

In some of the states they might call it the cap off of a soda bottle

Here in Kanukistan we call it pop too

I would guess that the air boot and box are interchangeable - among Sprees. They are assuming you are missing the air box. What are you missing?

They are suggesting stuffing in a plastic Pepsi (16 OZ / 20 OZ) bottle in the boot (if you have the boot) and installation an air filter inside the bottle and cutting a small hole in the bottle after the filter to represent the stock air box breather hole.

Just the cap with two holes drilled in it stuffed in the hose to meter the air as the two inlet holes in he air box does. Envision round plastic screw on bottle cap with two holes drilled in it poked in the end of the round air hose

Yes....The air tube and air filter box are the same for all models of Spree 1984 - 1987.
