also i thought the engines were the same from 85 to 87 but if you look up the piston the number is different from 85 to 87.did they change the pistons in these year to year?

yes he could spend 185 on the best kit aviable

but i think he wanted to know where to buy a 20 part.

pod44444: the 85 aero engine was diffrent at the intake, so dont worry the rings will interchange. you can find those rings on aero50 from 85-87 and on elite 50 from 87-93. all those scootes use the af05e motor. you should be able to find them on a honda parts website. are you going to a dealer or website?

or my honda dealer

Rings don't interchange, I went through this after replacing the piston in my '85 Aero motor. While the piston's diameter stays the same throughout various iterations of the variated af05, the rings' thickness was varied.

If you're looking to keep it stock (and not have to premix) then make sure you get '85 Aero piston rings. I might still have the NOS set I bought, and would be happy to sell 'em to you if I can find 'em.
