Going to look at a Spree

Post by Amezoii »

I'm new to the Honda mopeds but I am going to take a look at several Spree's this weekend. What are some tips for things to check to make sure I don't get something that has a temp fix or an actual issue? Both sellers claim that their Spree's are in good shape, start every time and have low miles.

Any help would be great.

Thanks!

I would recommend buying a faster model to save you some money. But if you like the sprees I would say 1) make sure they have a title and 2) dont pay over 3-400.00 total. Everything else we can address. If they are beat up 150.00-200.00 max. If you weigh over 180lbs I recommend buying a honda elite SR50. You will love it. It will cost a bit more upfront but has a ton of great parts available. My avatar picture to the left of this page has an example of what they look like.

Thanks for the input! I really like the spree but I didn't realize they were a little bit slower. There is a Honda Elite 50 for $100 less that I just arranged a time to look at. The ad says its been all rebuilt and the only thing that doesn't work is the speedometer. It's $500. Is that something worth checking out? Anything I should be wary about?

Thanks again for the help!!

Yes buy that elite they are a bit more sexy too. The early models of the elite were not variated from what I am tracking but they still look sharp. 92 and after I think where all variated. But some other guys will know more than I will on that. I have only had SR50 models which are for sure variated from the factory. Enjoy the test drives, buy the elite even if it does not run, these are easy to get running right and you can talk people down on price super easy when they dont.
