Let all of us know what you find when you take the old tubes out and how the nuts are installed in your rims! What kind of tires did you buy?

The tires are very close to the same profile as the tires that I took off. Haven't noticed any difference in speed. but the ride is much smoother. I ordered the 3.00 tires, The 90X90 in the same tire was about $6 more and I just didn't see paying more for something that was going to be such a small difference. But the new tires are soooo much smoother.

The Ebay contact that I ordered my variator from took a WEEK to get it shipped from Hawaii. I don't mean it has taken a week to get here. He didn't ship it, according to tracking, until a week after I ordered it! So I don't know if I will get it before I leave to go on my next job. If it doesn't get here today or Saturday it may be the end of October before I can install it!

I was surprised how much different the Keli Variator and ramp were from the stock pieces.

KELI ramp on the left

and now the difference, speeds checked on my street which is a slight incline, each comparison made as accurately as possible

I went to mt "test and tune" hill on the edge of town, a pretty steep hill about 300 yards long. The de-regged bike would top the hill at 35, with the KELI apparently keeping the motor in a better rpm range it would top the hill at 38.
This is the top speed I have seen so far on the bike coming back downhill on that same hill.

So you can take a stock 50p and on a street that is only a slight down hill, go from about 25 to about 45 and only buy one jet and a variator that was under $40. And now I can pretty comfortably run with the traffic on the main street where all the shopping is near me. The street is 45mph speed limit and it seriously enforced, so I can use the bike for lots of errands now.

I hope that the info and the pics from me and others in this thread will be a pretty good guide for other noobies that have a lot of the same questions that I did. I do plan to get a mild pipe and maybe a temp gauge, but those will have to be in the "Bang for the Buck, a Little More" thread lol. I'm loading the van for a 2 month job near Cleveland and the "Groovy lil Motor Bike" is going in the van with me. I will be in a hotel and I'm taking a cover and a good lock and I took out theft insurance on it too. It just occurred to me the bikes name will have to be Groovy :-)

So now with cost of purchase, tires, battery, and mods I have about $650 invested in a bike with less than 400 miles that looks almost new.

I LIKE IT !!!!!

Alex... Nice ride.

I have the exact same one 2001 S 'RED'. Was cruising about 25 MPH before removing restrictions like you - Exhaust, variator, bigger main jet, air box 2nd hole, and most importantly from my research = SR Oil pump and split throttle cable.

The following is a 7 page pinned read about the 'S' oil pump delivery rate. At the very minimum, you need to zip-tie up the 'S' pump to full open position. I suggest you consider the split cable and 'SR' pump. I bought both my from a discount OEM supplier and think I was in for ~$125. You might find used SR pump for less here as many with BBK get rid of the pump.

If you were already aware... sorry for the redundancy.
I'm more than happy to explain it to you. I'll even draw you a picture! But I can't understand it for you.

Thanks Carl I decided to wire the oil pump about 2/3 of the way open and run 2 ounces of premix per gallon. I then measured how much it took to refill the oil tank after 2 tanks. If my measurements are correct I am running about 32:1 I'll check it better as I put more miles on the bike. I think that running the pre mix and the pump will be good for the engine over the long haul. I'll let you know in about 3000 miles :eyeroll:
