I'm doing an oil change.
This scooter has the thing where it automatically injects the oil into the gas. What type of oil do I put in? Honda 2 stroke? I read somewhere that I can just use the stuff they use for chainsaws.... the air cooled stuff, is this true?
Please let me know,
Thanks!

Honda GN2 is as cheap and easy to find as any (if you're near a Honda dealer) - I believe it can be used for injection or pre-mix. The main thing is that if you use the pump, you need to use 2 stroke "Injector" oil and not something designed for pre-mix only.
If you're going to clean out your existing oil, you may want to grab the manual and read up on cleaning the filter and priming the lines - if you have any air in the lines, could cause problems. Oil changes are not required - only reason to do so is if you are unsure what oil is in there or if you just want to clean out/replace the lines and filter.
Lots of posts in here about the best way to bleed the lines and check to make sure the oil pump is functioning correctly. The easiest to me is to put a little pre-mix in the tank, plug the oil input nipple on the intake, crank her up, and make sure oil is seeping thru and out the line to the intake. Clear lines make this much easier - 1/4" from the tank to the pump and 1/8" from the pump to the intake. If you have a throttle operated oil pump, manually open it all the way while it is idling and the seepage will increase and be more noticeable - should come out in small surges. Once the air bubbles are all out of the line, hook it back up and you are good to go. If you only use a little pre-mix, you should be able to top off the tank with gas and be good to go.

^^this statement has no meaning when applying it to 2-stroke engines.
"Oil Change" refers to draining the crankcase of a 4-stroke engine, then refilling the crankcase with clean, new oil.

I drained out all the oil and replaced it because it has been sitting for years. That's not an oil change?

Yes, in the strictest sense, it is an "Oil Change"...Aerodude123 wrote:I drained out all the oil and replaced it because it has been sitting for years. That's not an oil change?
However, the phrase "Oil Change" is EXTREMELY relevant to 4-STROKE engines, and
ALMOST NEVER relevant to a 2-STROKE engine except in the odd instance a scooter has been sitting SO LONG that the tank is drained and re-filled with new, fresh oil. You have explained exactly what your are doing, and that is clearly better than most newbies...I just wanted to make a point that the phrase really belongs to the 4-stroke world. Telling scooter-savvy people that you're going to do an OIL CHANGE on your 2-stroke scooter is most definitely going to create confusion and scoffers....rock-on Aerodude.

Greetings:
Yes, that's the stuff. But $7.99 for shipping is a bit steep. Honda dealers near you have/can get.
