2t oil seepage

Post by Kevinstonge »

Hey guys.
My issue is that there is 2 stroke oil seeping into the carb when the bike is sitting. I'm currently doing a tune up and gears on a friends 01 SA50 sr and I noticed a small puddle on the garage floor after a couple of days. I found the drips coming from the bowl and overflow tube area. Bowl gasket is pretty much brand new. Also found a decent pool of 2t oil in the carb mouth area.

I'm thinking maybe the seal/o ring is worn in the pump? I think it has 3k-ish miles

Thanks again. -Kevin

Oil in the carb bowl and carb intake is a sign the check valve at the oil pump output is leaking. The check valve is the brass tube pressed into the oil pump, with the oil output tap attached. Pics are at this link - Click me!

Used Elite oil pumps are easy to come by and is the easy way to fix the issue

Haha. Sure did wheelman. On the pre-mod test drive I left a smoke screen for a solid 2 miles.

Man you should see this Spree I picked up.

When I bought it I thought it was seized because it wouldn't turn over.

Turns out the reason it wouldn't turn over is because the engine, cylinder and case, were FULL of 2t oil.

It puked out oil for like 10 minutes while I picked it over.

That thing smoked like a middle aged hairdresser.
