1986 honda spree idle issue

Post by MrJumps »

List of engine things done;

cleaned carb
cleaned muff out
put in a new battery ( I use the kick start mostly thought, otherwise I would burn the starter out )
New petcock
The reeds seem to be strong still.

When I kick it over it starts then either wants to rev up or revs once then stalls out. Sometimes it will run but will refuse to rev up. Then some times it sounds like its redlining then changes it mine and refuses to start for days then one day it will idle but die once you give it gas. I think the muff might still be clogged? Could reeving it up with a clogged muff cause it to stall out? Another thing it does is it will start and idle nicely, but when you try to give it gas it starts to stall but if I let off its fine. Another thing I wonder if it could be electronic power, like say the stator?

I have followed the airbox delete where you use a pod filter and a bottle cap and drill two holes in it.
