48MM Big Bore kit

Post by Jack Owl »

Hi, Im new here, and I apologize if this is in the wrong area, I tried to post in tech, but I cannot. I purchased a 48mm Big bore kit from Ebay, but I did not get any instructions with it. I know how to replace a piston and a cylinder, but I understand there is some things included in the instructions, that I need to know, Does anyone have a copy of the instructions?
Thanks! It is a 1986 Honda Spree

Spree big bore kit? If yes there totally used to be an instruction sheet that Taz used to include with the big bore kits for spree.
I had a copy, not sure where though. It told what to do for break in and how many ›" holes to drill in the airbox lid for using the stock carb and stock airbox. Check wikiSPREEdia they might be there.

Greetings:

Running 32:1 plus oil pump = more than double the recommended oil. The bigger cylinders probably won't survive on the pump alone, but shouldn't need more than 100:1 pre-mixed with it. I've broken in plenty of 47, 49, 50 and 51mm bores using 32:1 premix alone. Adding oil causes a leaner fuel/air ratio, hotter combustion chamber. That much oil won't burn off completely and will accumulate as crud in the head and exhaust. I suspect the bores that are broken in according in to these instructions survive in spite of the excess oil, not because of it.

I'm just using 32:1 premix with the oil pump inoperable and everything seems to be fine. Agree that using the oil pump is unnecessary if you use 32:1.

I just saw this post. Those are older directions and I'm sure how they made it in the box. I have since updated the mix ratios. Wheel is right. That is way to rich. Im not sure were my head was when I wrote them. If anyone needs the updated one pm me.
