How does the Petcock operate at WOT?

Anyone thought about just installing manual valve in place of the vacuum one? Ten times cheaper and even if the bag guy gets the key, the scooter won't run unless you turn the valve on. Then you don't have to worry about whether the carb needle and seat are sealing properly.

My only concern is where would you put the valve? just replacing the petcock wouldn't be even sorta accessible without a screwdriver and ten minutes. In the under the seat would probably be the best spot but then you have to worry about things in there hitting it on bumps, but if you can get a cover or locking valve.
So just running a straight fuel line to the carb from the tank with no petcock is a bad idea then.. but i might do it anyways.
I changed the vacuum line, seemed to help a little bit. I came up and bumped it up from a 138 main to a 140 main and the problem came back faster.
I have a cheap fuel filter from advanced auto on there now, my only real thinking now is that that fuel filter might not be able to flow fast enough, but it really doesnt seem like it should be burning thru fuel that fast anyways.

I think that's your problem right there. Those filters from the auto parts store are usually designed for higher pressure fuel pump systems and create higher resistance. Been there, done that . Go to a small engine (lawnmower) place or motorcycle store and swap it out for one designed for small engines - they are only about 3 bucks. Bet that solves your problem.cf_z wrote:I have a cheap fuel filter from advanced auto on there now,
