help pls carb tuning

Post by redrocket »

ok so i have this set up 1985 spree with big bore and running a se50 stock carb w/ a 95 jet and a uni pod filter i have a 68 72 the 95 and another 72 size jet and plan on finding the drill sizes to jet sizes convertor thing that someone wrote on here but cant ? can someone help i will eye ball it if i dont here about it i swear i read it on here so the tuning. My old carb was trashed i had a hole on the outside that i covered with rtv and blocked the hole leading to the bystarter cause that was broke the slide would not slide down so. Got a new carb and when running the 95 jet the take off is slow not to bad but slow and i dont have the whole last quater of my throttle im running this jet because the only other one i have is the 72 that im scared is running to lean so im drilling my jets but im asking. I assume i am running rich W/ the 95 jet right? my spark plug is black on the insulator ring after doing a plug chop so i moved the clip up one which lowers the needle and makes it leaner because of less fuel flow right?(or is it air flow?) or do i have that backwarsd i tried looking to my reference its so long ill look some more but cant figure out because does that reduce the air flow or the flow of gas??? i hope i have that right . :*: so this site's help to me kicks * i hope i have this s*** right and iff not im sure i will get it from the help recieved from here  :geekdance: :P  thanks :newb:

Greetings:

Perhaps this would get more attention somewhere other than For Sale section.

Drilling jets is not going to get you the precise flow numbers that the jet numbers mean. Jets are flow tested and then stamped with a number.

on my 96 E /72cc/PC V8 stock air and carb i'm on what is in the ball park of a 115 and it may still need more jet.also you might want to raise the needle
for some added fuel in the secondary..

stock pipe?you might have a time of it trying to get any reasonable performance advantage on one.the also play * with jetting a oversized cylinder...i'm a newb at this but the curve is bobbing up and down!!!
busting my knuckles on vices since
for long as i can remember
