Oh and the other idiots know less than nothing. I am not a fan of 4 stroke scooter motors. They are heavy and are a b**** on the maintenance side. The only reason they exist is because the EPA left the manufactures no other choice and that is the second reason I don't like the 4 strokes, government interference.

I have a 1947 5.5 horse Johnson and a 1947 3.3 horse Evinrude. I had a 1935 3.3 horse but a collector offered me 10 times what I had into it so I let it go. I do have a couple a of 1958-59 50 horse V-4 Johnson (the first 2 years of the V-4) on stands in my shop and a 1967 100 horse on my 1963 15 foot Anthony Brothers fiberglass 3 point hydroplane in my shop also. I also have a 1976 Mercury 1500XS in my shop in the process of being rebuilt.

That gearcase on the 50 horse is just a lengthened version of the 1960 stock gearcase. So it uses stock props, even though they are modified.

Got the new Roller in and make sure the belt is Good, now it pick up the speed faster, but it still has the top speed at 33-34mph
Well this time I might need to take off the head again to adjust the valve.

hehehe now you know that if you have the head off of a 4 stroke you should go ahead and clean the valves and adjust the rockers. check the valve seals while you are at it :D not sure but if you have to reseat them its pretty easy as long as you have some valve grinding compound and an electric drill. you can take a wire brush attachment for the drill or even a table grinder with a steel brush on it and polish those valves to a shine, they are made of steel so you cant damage them by doing this :D

Just use the manual and ADJUST the valves. You don't need to take the head off to do this. Here's the manual:

http://www.hondaspree.net/phpBB3/viewto ... =11&t=8555

After adjusting the valves, adjust the carb. No need for disassembly.

Keep it simple.

I really like to keep it simple, but I did look the manual and if I need to adjust the valves it has to remove the head, am I missing something in the manual?
