my machine starts up and idles fine, but at higher speeds it cuts power and slows me back down, making me not be able to get over about 25ish. Depending on my level is when the power cutting seems to happen, going downhill i lose power faster than if im going uphill. This makes me think its somthing wrong with the carb or gaskets. Could this be fixed with a new gasket set? thats what my autotech teacher says, just want to get your ideas.

also when im sitting at an interesction (while im being gawked at, stupid rich town) i smell gasoline, didnt ever smell gasoline before and my mpg is suffering because of this whole problem.

Sounds like it's running rich. Either the intake is plugged somewhere, or a jet is loose (I assume the carb is clean.) How's the aircleaner?

air cleaner is present and oiled. d*** right the carbs clean :) that thing comes apart every week (nearly) thats one of the reasons i think the gaskets might be to blame, wearing possibly? and on the same note the jet is nice and tight tambien

How's the float? Why are you having to clean it weekly?

lol just for fun. im in an auto tech class and they let me work on my own car every friday, i have nothing to do those days except to maintain my spree. so i clean it and make sure everything is lubed and in good running order. the float is fine and it makes the valve open and close well.

i dont think it would be a gasket. check proper screw settings, when you clean the carb next time blow out the cleaner with compressed air. try a new plug also.
