Hi all,
I'm new to Sprees although I have some experience buying old no-peds and restoring. I've been watching for a reasonably priced Spree project for my daughter (turning 15) and I am going to look at one tonight - priced at $200.00 (planning to offer a little less). I've attached the pics I was sent which aren't very revealing. I'm looking for general comments as to whether or not this is a foolish venture. From the little experience I have with 2 old Express's, a C70, and a Suzuki FA50, there are few things that can't be fixed or replaced easily. From a quick browse, seems like Spree parts are easy to find and reasonable. One other comment, apparently this was a rental in Florida (explains the paint job).
It was advertised as an 83 Espree - it has a kick start which I believe makes it an '86. Supposedly runs well but leaks fuel?

Not a foolish venture . Sorry i'm an Elite guy not a Spree guy so i'll keep any comments to myself but $200 seems reasonable and these forums will help with any problems you find.

Re: new to Sprees - questions on purchase opportunity
i agree, kickstart+old plastics and no glovebox='86
for $200, yeh, i'd snag it.
i ride my 85 daily and couldnt live w/o it.
it took very little to get it running since they are fairly simple engines.
make sure your daughter is involved in repairs/touch ups as she will appreciate it more and feel a since of ownership.
Plus she can pick which ever colours she wants(in my opinion the only thing wrong w/ that bike is its paint).
$200 is a great price, if you can get it lower...try using the missing petcock cover, and mirrors as an excuse because they're hard parts to come by.
