Removing Cylinder

I think I need a ring job. I took off the cylinder head according to the factory manual, but when I tried to take off the cylinder itself, it would not budge. I didn't want to pull on it with all my might, but I wasn't sure if there was a preferred method. Once the head (and the four long screws) are removed, is there anything else that's holding the cylinder in place? Or is it just gasket goo that has to be broken? Should I twist and pull, or just pull straight? Any advice?

yes, make sure exhaust is removed as well. other than that and the 4 bolts, there's nothing holding the cylinder onto the case so pull to your hearts content.

use a rubber mallet and tap around the cylinder then lift it off!

Getting back on topic: Tapping around the jug with a soft mallet while lightly prying up around the jug usually works. You don't want to pry hard, or you'll break a fin and/or bind the jug in the hole. The jug extends about 1" into the case, if you haven't seen one before. You are breaking the gasket at the base mostly.

The slightest tap with rubber mallet was all it needed. Thanks for your help. I don't care how anyone spells as long as it conveys useful information.
