Hi all,
Just picked up an 84 Spree and I'm going thru the tear-down and examine process trying to get it running. Everything was going smoothly - missing a few minor parts but nothing significant. Placed the carb in dip last night - it was missing the air screw so I ordered it. When I pulled it out this morning and began wiping it down, I noticed a small hole drilled (maybe drilled - kinda rough) into the base of the idle jet (I think it is the idle jet - right next to the main one). My first impulse is to start looking for a new carb but I thought I would ask:
Is this jet replaceable?
Any idea why this hole might have been drilled?
I attached a pic - its a little blurry but you should be able to get the concept.

I see an 86 carburetor on ebay for a reasonable price - does anyone know if this will fit an 84 (I know the bystarter is different but I'm only interested in the carb body.

I can't imagine what the hole would be there for, or how it would affect anything. That's the idle jet. The 86 carb will fit on there perfectly, with any year bystarter.
