Throttle cable is missing the retainer

Post by gman75 »

Ok, I am almost ready to fire up the spree after installing a new piston + cylinder..

When putting the bike back together, I noticed the throttle cable is missing a small retainer clip near the throttle valve area. The retainer is pictured on pg 4-3 of the spree service manual.

I notice the throttle action is very limited, it seems hard to turn and works over a very limited range.

What does this retainer do - can I get away without it??

turn the throttle cylinder around 180 deg. until it drops in further. that will fix the throttle issue. with out a clip the pin can not do its job right. is it loose? if not you might be fine.
