No Fire???
Okay, I have finally got her cleaned and some new parts on.
I have a good working carb, good compression and gas is getting to the spark plug. Which is firing outside the chamber but when I screw it in and go to start her it does nothing but try to start, it doesn't fire. What could be wrong?

The one thing that comes to my mind is whether or not the exhaust is clogged. Have you tried starting with the exhaust off?

The exhaust is blowing fine. What else could it be?

Is the spark good and blue when you turn it over?pat23 wrote:The exhaust is blowing fine. What else could it be?
How old is the Gas?
What scooter is this?
What is the specific compression psi?

Re: No Fire???
Are you running a stock airbox? Is the filter clogging the air?

Re: No Fire???
Yeah, stock. No, it's sucking air fine.mr pibbs wrote:Are you running a stock airbox? Is the filter clogging the air?
Re: No Fire???
Have you tried spraying Wd-40 in there to act as starter fluid?

Re: No Fire???
Yeah, it didn't really do much. It sputtered for a second, if even...mr pibbs wrote:Have you tried spraying Wd-40 in there to act as starter fluid?
Re: No Fire???
Well, i'm at a loss. It feels like a clogged exhaust, or a fuel issue, but I can't say much more than just that feeling. If it doesn't but putter a bit when there is fuel in the cylinder and air can get in, then air can't get out.
But i don't know as much as you about this particular engine. How long have you had it? Tell me more about the carb.

I am at a loss too, I have been working non-stop on this little bugger for about three days solid.mr pibbs wrote:Well, i'm at a loss. I have had it for about a year, but when I bought it the guy said it didn't really run and I just sat it up in my back garage for awhile and just now have had the time to deal with trying to fix it up.
The carb is good, I took it off and took it in to a buddy of mine who runs a small engine repair shop and he cleaned it out and fixed a small issue with the float. From the looks of it and how it feels, I think that it is working just fine.
I put it back on, added a new battery, new spark plug, gas, and did some cleaning on the engine to get rid of some gunk and grime. Then did a compression test. Other than that it is the way it was when I bought it.
Re: No Fire???
Is the Plug wet? if so check your vaccum line from the petcock make sure its not fillied with fuel. Quick easy check.
Re: No Fire???
The plug is getting a little wet, not much but a little bit. The vacuum line is clear and empty.kpa2004 wrote:Is the Plug wet? if so check your vaccum line from the petcock make sure its not fillied with fuel. Quick easy check.
Re: No Fire???
Is the exhaust puffing, or is it a steady blowing. The reason I ask is my scoot when i fianlly got it goin the exhaust wasnt popping it was like a steady stream of air like it was being pressurized and not allowing the gasses to flow properly. Also I would check to see if the spark plug is gapped properly, I think the book says .025-.030" I put mine right at .025 and it fired right up. Back to the exhaust though you should feel a definite pulsing of air as opposed to a steady flowing air.
