loose kickstand any suggestions?

Post by ryanmcfinney »

I just bought a new spring for my 94 elite 50 and the kickstand is still not held that tight ( the old one was missing when i bought it ). Anyone have any experience before I start trying to bend up the spring hooks? Also the kickstand pivot axle is kinda loose will tightening it help? How do you even do that?

Thanks guys

possibly a shorter spring might work to hold it up thier tight. so that it doesnt hit the exhaust when you go over bumps ans what not. but most people down here just take those off because we have side stands and plus too dents in the exhaust from it hitting so often. my 2 cents

I'd have to look at what you have to see what's going on. On my Spree, I had to replace the stock pin with a larger, hardened bolt and nylock nut. It had worn out to the point of rubbing on the tire.

thats another option, did you have to drill the holes bigger?

Slight drilling on the frame side; the stand was already stretched out to the larger size.

There's alot of tension on that tube. Over the years it will stretch and one side wants to rub on the tire.
I concur with noiseguy,go one size over with hardened bolt. Or weld on a piece of tube to tighten existing hole.
