Can my carb be fixed?

Can my carb be fixed?
So I cleaned out my carb last night and as I was putting the main jet back in, I had the spring compressed, and got a little bite on the threads, but as I let off pressure to readjust my hand for another turn it popped up and I hear little flecks of debris hit my work table. Well, as im inspecting, I see that some threads on the inside of the casing had broken off part way. I cleaned it up best I could but could not get it to thread. I tried for at least a hour. Any suggestions for a fix out there?
Re: Can my carb be fixed?
Get an appropriate tap and clean the threads up. I guess my real question is, "What spring?" Main jets don't have springs.

Re: Can my carb be fixed?
hmm. I definitley took a spring out of there. It doesnt go around the main jet cylinder, it sits in between the top of the cylinder and the screw. Is that not correct?
Re: Can my carb be fixed?
Dam. Im looking at the pictures on of the carb cleaning guide and there definitely is not a spring. Ill have to take a look at it again when I get off work. Hopefully I can get it to bite in there without the spring. Honestly, that could've been my bad. I am a SpreeNewb.
So where can I get a tap, and do you happen to know what the appropriate size may be?
Thank alot

Re: Can my carb be fixed?
Maybe you were trying to fit it with the spring from the idle speed screw or the mixture screw?
By "cylinder", I assume you mean the emulsion tube. There is no spring anywhere near there.

Taps are available at auto parts store and hardware store.
I picture would be helpful here on this spring deal.

Re: Can my carb be fixed?
I won't disagree with you Marty, but I'm sure it is not the main jet. But the idle screw should not be against the spring when starting the threads.martynkim wrote:I bet it is the idle screw.

Re: Can my carb be fixed?
THanks for the replys guys, I figured it out. I had made a little switcharoo of the spring, it actually needs to go on the air screw. I got it runnin and she feels pretty nice.
